Role Description You will have an opportunity to fit into a contributing role on a number of projects spanning many technologies. Responsibilities will include: - Developing software in new and existing projects - Debugging - Testing - Occasionally getting wet A core component of our underwater robots is ‘BlueOS’, our open source software that runs on a Linux-based computer. It is responsible for: - Managing communications with the pilot computer from the surface - Integrating sonars, positioning systems, cameras, streaming video - Running the autopilot software that controls the ROV - Implementing a web interface to allow the user to configure and manage the system - Updating the software - Collecting diagnostic and log information Your main role will be as a developer and maintainer for BlueOS. Below you’ll find the day-to-day responsibilities of this position and the qualifications that will help you to be successful! Qualifications - The ability to learn, solve problems, develop skills, and complete work independently - Excellent communication skills and a team-oriented attitude - Willing to learn new technologies and modern languages + language features - Effective and responsible use of AI - Strong git and GitHub experience - Familiarity with containerization (Docker, Podman) - Experience with networking technologies (HTTP, UDP/TCP, websockets, WebRTC) - Experience with frontend web development (Vue, Typescript) - Experience with backend development (Python, Rust) - Experience with API architecture (Swagger, REST API/GraphQL) - Experience with Publisher/Subscriber or/and signal/slot architecture - Strong English language skills, including technical language and conversation skills Requirements - Experience with open source development - Familiarity with embedded Linux development - Familiarity with robotics - Linux kernel/driver/module development experience - Interest in the ocean and taking care of its future! • Lead the AI-native engineering transformation for Apps & Solutions — drive the adoption of micro-sprint methodologies, agentic capacity management, and AI-informed delivery decisions across all engineering pods; set a target of 40%+ AI-informed delivery decisions across the portfolio and build the operating model that makes it real, not aspirational • Build and scale a world-class engineering organization — lead 50+ engineers through multiple Directors and Engineering Managers, manage through leaders of leaders, develop the EM cohort as a performance management discipline, and build the leadership bench that sustains delivery excellence through growth and change • Set the technical vision and engineering standards — define the architecture direction for Apps & Solutions aligned with League's business objectives and product roadmap; champion CI/CD, observability, cloud-native engineering on GCP, and test automation practices that drive measurable quality improvement across all squads • Own executive-level customer relationships — serve as the senior engineering sponsor for League's most strategic enterprise accounts; own escalation management, delivery confidence, and the executive relationships that determine whether clients stay, expand, or churn • Partner at the company-wide level — work alongside the CTO, CPO, and CDO to shape technology strategy, architecture decisions, and go-to-market execution for enterprise customers; own P&L accountability for engineering delivery across the Apps & Solutions portfolio • Drive cross-functional alignment at the leadership level — work closely with the CPO, CTO, and CDO to ensure engineering decisions are tightly coupled to product roadmap commitments and delivery capacity; own the relationship between engineering velocity and commercial feasibility before commitments leave the building.
