AI Team Lead Video Editor

CapsLock

Role Description We’re looking for an AI Team Lead Video Editor who is equal parts strong leader, project manager, systems builder, and editing geek — someone who knows how to automate workflows and achieve business goals through videos that actually sell. You will take a team of 3 to 7 editors and elevate them through mature management, strict quality control, and deep AI integration. Core Responsibilities - Team & Project Management - Lead, mentor, and scale a team of 3 to 7+ AI-driven video editors, identifying their core strengths and guiding them to new professional heights. - Monitor team morale and proactively manage workloads to prevent burnout, ensuring the team’s spirit aligns with the company culture. - Act as a strong Project Manager: own the task distribution process and handle complex project routing. Keep pipelines organized and ensure clean, on-time delivery. - Ensure strict Quality Control (QC). Every video must meet our high standards for pacing, visual fidelity, and hook impact. - Review, approve, and uphold internal guidelines and editing rules so the team has a clear operational framework. - AI Systems & Workflow Automation - Build systematized AI workflows. - Create structured templates using tools like Weavy to speed up the team's execution. - Automate post-production. - Build pipelines connecting task databases to AI generators, auto-delivering ready-to-edit assets directly, eliminating manual prompt copying and file downloading. - Integrate new AI tools. - Regularly test emerging AI models and implement the most effective ones into the daily workflow. - Stay hands-on. Jump into the editing software (Adobe Suite) when needed to unblock the team, fix complex issues, or test new technical approaches. - Performance - Build and maintain a database of top-performing creatives to systematically scale and iterate on winning concepts. - Analyze failed creatives to understand what went wrong and make corrections for future videos. - Cross-Functional Collaboration - Work tightly with Creative Producers, Copywriters, Media Buyers, and Marketers to align on technical feasibility, negotiate deadlines, and solve bottlenecks. - Actively participate in brainstorming sessions, pitching new visual formats and AI-driven approaches to turn creative hypotheses into reality. Qualifications - 5+ years of Leadership Experience: You have successfully managed video production/editing teams. (This is not a role for a senior editor looking for their first management gig). - Mature Leader & Problem Solver: You build clear processes, guide your team, gracefully resolve conflicts, remain highly proactive, and stay completely open to new ideas and approaches. - Strong Project Manager: You drive every project cleanly to the finish line. You guarantee top-tier quality, maintain absolute order, and hit strict deadlines without excuses. - Editing Geek: Deep, hands-on expertise in the Adobe Creative Cloud suite (Premiere Pro, After Effects). You know the editing world inside out and can troubleshoot or solve any technical problem the team encounters. - AI & Automation Geek: This is far beyond basic ChatGPT prompting. You actively track the latest AI video tools and integrate them to automate manual workflows. You know exactly how to create realistic AI avatars with perfect lip-sync, generate missing footage from scratch, and use AI to solve any production problem. - Performance Marketing DNA: Solid understanding of short-form video ads (Meta, TikTok, YouTube Shorts). You know what keeps viewers watching and what makes a video sell. - Fluent English — both spoken and written. Requirements - 5+ years of Leadership Experience managing video production/editing teams. - Mature leader with problem-solving skills. - Strong project management abilities. - Deep expertise in Adobe Creative Cloud suite. - Active tracking of AI video tools and integration. - Solid understanding of short-form video ads. - Fluent in English, both spoken and written. Benefits - Remote Work: Choose where you feel the most productive and comfortable to make an impact. - Paid Time Off: Support for work-life balance with paid time off for rest and personal time. - Ongoing Learning: Support for continuous learning with workshops, online courses, conferences, and certifications. - Home Office: Assistance in setting up your workspace by covering equipment and furniture expenses. - Physical Well-Being: Flexibility to stay active with gym memberships, yoga classes, or home workout equipment. - Unlimited Sick Days: Take the time you need to rest and recover. - Medical Coverage: Reimbursement for medical insurance and health-related expenses. - Co-Working Space: Coverage for co-working space costs for a change of scenery. - Fun Stuff: Engagement in gaming nights, fitness challenges, and annual retreats.

Position: YouTube Video Editor Location: Remote (Global) Employment Type: Full-Time Reports To: Content Producer / Head of Content Type of contract: Independent contractor  🌎 Work from any corner of the world and be a part of the #remoteworkrevolution!‼️ Scope of the role: We’re not looking for another editor. We’re looking for a platform-native storyteller. As a YouTube Video Editor, you will transform Simon’s conversations into content that earns attention—not by chasing trends, but by trusting that great ideas, well-presented, are the most compelling content there is. You’ll work closely with our content producer to shape raw footage into long-form YouTube episodes and social-ready short clips that feel unmistakably like Simon: thoughtful, grounded, and human. This role is for someone who thinks editorially—who watches great content and understands why it works, has strong instincts about what to cut and what to keep, and cares about the viewer’s experience as much as the technical execution. What You’ll Do: Long-Form YouTube Content - Edit full-length podcast episodes of A Bit of Optimism into polished, YouTube-ready cuts (typically 40–75 minutes) - Craft the opening 60 seconds with intention—structuring hooks that earn the viewer’s curiosity without resorting to clickbait - Apply subtle visual enhancements (zooms, reframes, on-screen text, lower thirds, and light graphics) that serve the story - Manage pacing throughout long-form content to maintain intellectual engagement without sacrificing the authenticity of real conversation - Incorporate music, sound design, and b-roll where appropriate to support tone and context Short-Form & Social - Identify and extract 30–90 second moments from each episode with the highest social potential - Produce vertical (9:16) Instagram Reels and YouTube Shorts that feel platform-native, not repurposed - Apply bold captions, platform-appropriate pacing, and instant hooks to maximize performance in the first 2–3 seconds - Develop a consistent visual language for short-form content aligned with Simon’s brand Collaboration & Process - Work directly with the content producer to interpret briefs, align on editorial direction, and iterate quickly - Maintain organized project files, rough cuts, and final exports with consistent naming and delivery standards - Contribute ideas on what’s working, what’s not, and how content can improve—bringing strong opinions, held loosely - Stay current on platform changes, YouTube algorithm shifts, and emerging editorial techniques What We’re Looking For: Required - 3+ years of experience editing video content for YouTube, with a portfolio that includes long-form content - Demonstrable fluency in modern YouTube storytelling, including pacing, retention strategy, hook construction, and audience psychology - Proficiency in Adobe Premiere Pro and/or DaVinci Resolve; experience with After Effects or motion graphics is a plus - Experience editing short-form vertical content for Instagram Reels or TikTok - Strong written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to articulate editorial decisions - A portfolio or reel that demonstrates range, including compelling talking-head content Preferred - Experience working in or adjacent to thought leadership, podcasting, personal brand, or media content - Familiarity with Simon Sinek’s body of work and alignment with the ideas he puts into the world - Comfort working in a small, high-trust team where ownership, initiative, and judgment matter more than hierarchy - Experience using AI-assisted editing tools or subtitle/caption workflows Our Creative Philosophy: What we’re after Authentic, clean, modern storytelling that feels current without chasing trends. Editing that treats retention as a byproduct of respect for the viewer’s time. What we’re not after Over-edited, hyperactive cuts that prioritize speed over substance. Clickbait tactics or gimmicky hooks that erode trust. Content that feels like it’s shouting for attention.
