Title: Software Engineer (Java / React / AWS) Location: Remote/Arnold, Missouri, United States Job Description: ** HYBRID POSITION: Onsite 2-3 days/week to start, may scale back to 1 day/week * Job Summary: We are seeking a Software Engineer to support a client/server application that synchronizes files to remote locations, along with a React-based web interface. This role will focus on maintaining, enhancing, and modernizing the platform as it migrates to AWS, with an emphasis on performance, reliability, and scalability. Responsibilities: - Develop and maintain backend services in Java (e.g., APIs, file processing, synchronization logic) - Build and enhance the React-based web application and user interface - Support migration of application components and workflows to AWS - Troubleshoot issues related to file transfer, synchronization, and system performance - Collaborate with DevOps to support CI/CD pipelines, deployments, and monitoring - Participate in code reviews, testing, and Agile development processes Qualifications: - Must possess an Active Top Secret security clearance (TS/SCI preferred) with the ability to obtain SCI and CI Poly.  - Experience with Java and modern frontend frameworks (React preferred) - Familiarity with client/server or distributed application architectures - Exposure to AWS or other cloud platforms - Experience with REST APIs and database integration - Strong problem-solving skills and ability to work in a collaborative team environment

• Architect, design, and implement Emma’s backend platform, supporting our growth from E-commerce into SleepTech and global fulfillment & logistics. • Design, build, and scale backend services using Go. • Develop and maintain robust, secure, and high-performance REST APIs that integrate with internal systems and third-party providers. • Work in a services-oriented, API-first architecture, including event-driven systems using AWS services such as SNS, SQS, Kafka, or RabbitMQ. • Build cloud-native solutions running on AWS, with full ownership from development and testing to deployment and monitoring (full DevOps). • Fully own your team’s tech stack: develop, maintain, operate, and continuously improve it. • Ensure high code quality through automated testing, code reviews, and CI/CD pipelines. • Be part of an agile, empowered team: collaborate closely, share knowledge, and contribute to the growth of fellow engineers. • Contribute to improving our CI/CD, DevOps and SRE practices. • Take part in recruitment processes to help grow our high-performing tech team.

• Developing RESTful services in AWS with API Gateway and Lambda using Node.js and NestJS. • Designing and building scalable, event-driven microservice architectures with Amazon EventBridge, SNS, SQS, RabbitMQ, and AmazonMQ. • Leading engineering-wide initiatives and collaborating with multiple teams and stakeholders. • Integrating with external APIs. • Working with GitHub Copilot as part of your daily workflow, including AI-assisted code review in our CI/CD pipelines.

What you will bring: - Minimum 5 years of experience developing applications using Java with Spring/Spring Boot. - Extensive hands-on experience with React and TypeScript. - Solid experience with event-driven architecture and microservices, designing decoupled, scalable, and resilient distributed systems. - Hands-on experience with messaging and event streaming technologies such as Apache Pulsar, Apache Kafka, or other brokers. - Experience with test automation tools, particularly Cypress. - Experience in containers and container orchestration with Kubernetes. - Experience in public cloud provision (preferably Azure, but knowledge of any other cloud provider is welcome!). - Familiarity with event sourcing patterns and frameworks particularly in the context of DDD and CQRS. - Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to present complex technical concepts clearly to a variety of audiences. Nice to have: - Familiarity with frameworks such as Axon - Fintech domain knowledge or experience working in regulated industries. - Development experience with Angular.
