Agentic Architect | 100% Remote (WFH) Opportunity General Summary We are seeking a hands-on, forward-thinking Agentic Architect to lead the design, development, and governance of AI agent systems across the enterprise. This role sits at the intersection of enterprise architecture and applied AI. You will define how autonomous and semi-autonomous AI agents are built, deployed, orchestrated, and governed at scale. You will establish the patterns, frameworks, and guardrails that enable teams across the organization to build reliable, secure agentic solutions that deliver real business value. This is a senior technical leadership role requiring deep expertise in AI/ML systems, modern software architecture, and a strong understanding of business operations. Essential Duties and Responsibilities Define and Drive the Agentic Architecture Strategy - Develop and maintain the enterprise architecture strategy for AI agent systems, including multi-agent orchestration, tool use, memory, retrieval-augmented generation (RAG), and human-in-the-loop workflows. - Establish standards, reference architectures, and reusable patterns for agentic development across the enterprise. - Evaluate and select foundational models, agent frameworks, and supporting infrastructure (vector stores, knowledge graphs, observability tooling). Build Shared Platforms and Accelerators - Design and oversee development of internal platforms, SDKs, and libraries that enable teams to rapidly build, test, and deploy AI agents. - Create technical patterns for common agentic capabilities: tool calling, structured output, guardrails, evaluation, and feedback loops. - Drive adoption of consistent development practices across teams. Governance, Safety, and Risk - Define and enforce guardrails for agent autonomy, data access, and decision-making boundaries. - Establish evaluation and observability frameworks to monitor agent behavior, cost, latency, and quality in production. - Partner with security, compliance, and legal teams to ensure responsible AI practices are embedded into every agent system. Provide Strategic Technical Guidance - Advise business and technology leaders on where agentic AI can, and should not, be applied. - Translate business problems into agentic architecture solutions with clear cost-benefit tradeoffs. - Identify and mitigate technical risks across the AI portfolio. - Collaborate with Claims, Underwriting, and other business units to identify and prioritize high-impact opportunities for agentic automation. Lead and Mentor - Lead and grow a team of AI engineers, architects, and developers. - Foster a culture of experimentation, rapid prototyping, and continuous learning. - Mentor team members on agentic design patterns, prompt engineering, and AI system design. Stay Ahead of the Curve - Track the rapidly evolving AI agent landscape, including new models, frameworks, research, and industry applications. - Identify opportunities to leverage emerging capabilities (tool use, computer use, multi-modal agents) to drive competitive advantage. Communicate Effectively - Translate complex AI concepts for non-technical stakeholders, including executives and business leaders. - Develop and maintain architecture documentation, agent interaction diagrams, and implementation roadmaps. Requirements / Expertise - 8+ years of experience in software architecture, AI/ML engineering, or enterprise architecture. - Demonstrated experience designing and deploying AI agent systems or LLM-powered applications in production. - Strong understanding of LLM capabilities and limitations, prompt engineering, RAG, function/tool calling, and agent orchestration patterns. - Experience with agent frameworks (e.g., LangGraph, CrewAI, AutoGen, Claude Agent SDK, or custom implementations). - Hands-on experience with cloud platforms (AWS, Azure, or GCP) and modern DevOps/MLOps practices. - Familiarity with enterprise architecture principles and the ability to operate across organizational boundaries. - Strong communication, leadership, and collaboration skills. - Ability to make pragmatic architectural decisions in a fast-moving domain. - Experience building AI/ML systems in regulated industries (insurance, finance, healthcare) with sensitivity to PII and compliance requirements. - Experience building evaluation harnesses, benchmarks, and testing frameworks for LLM-based systems. Preferred Qualifications - Experience with model evaluation, red-teaming, or AI safety practices. - Familiarity with enterprise architecture frameworks (TOGAF, Zachman). - Cloud architecture certifications (AWS Solutions Architect, Azure Solutions Architect). - Contributions to open-source AI/agent projects or published thought leadership in the space. - Insurance or financial services industry experience. Education - Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or related field. - Master's degree or Ph.D. preferred. Work Environment - Remote: This role is 100% remote, open to candidates currently located in the United States who are able to work without sponsorship. - Requires a private, quiet workspace suitable for focused work and video collaboration. - Hours: Schedules are set to accommodate the needs of the role and organization, and may be adjusted as needed. - Travel: Occasional travel to off-site locations for meetings may be required.
