The Crown Is Yours As a Software Engineering Manager, Platform with DraftKings, you will step into a pivotal role within our established and globally distributed platform engineering team. Your team owns the foundational building blocks that engineering teams across the organization rely on - from core shared libraries and golden-path tooling to compliance capabilities and developer experience initiatives. This is an opportunity to lead a team of talented individuals delivering solutions that make every engineer at DraftKings more productive and effective. What you'll do as a Software Engineering Manager, Platform - Lead a team of 4-6 engineers to deliver business-critical platform capabilities with high quality. - Own the technical direction of core shared libraries and internal frameworks, driving adoption and supporting consuming teams across the organization. - Drive the evolution of service creation tooling - templates, pipelines, and reference implementations - that define the golden path for building new services. - Partner with compliance and legal stakeholders to ensure systems meet regulatory requirements across multiple jurisdictions. - Shape the future of developer experience by driving initiatives around internal developer portal, service scorecards, and engineering effectiveness metrics. - Collaborate with stakeholders and engineering teams to influence the platform roadmap, balancing competing priorities from multiple internal customers. - Shield the team from distractions and remove blockers to ensure engineers can stay focused on deep, meaningful work. - Champion AI-assisted development practices, encouraging your team to leverage AI tools to accelerate delivery and improve code quality. - Mentor team members for career growth, foster a transparent team culture, and actively participate in implementation alongside your engineers. What you'll bring - At least 3 years of experience leading a software engineering team of 4 or more engineers, ideally within platform, infrastructure, or shared services environments. - Proven ability to identify, develop, and retain high-performing engineering talent while fostering a strong, collaborative team culture. - Experience designing and maintaining shared libraries or SDKs, with a deep understanding of API design, versioning strategies, and backward compatibility. - Professional experience building backend systems within the .NET ecosystem or similar technology stacks, with a focus on delivering scalable, reliable, and high-quality solutions. - Hands-on experience with distributed systems, microservices architecture, and event-driven messaging technologies such as Kafka or RabbitMQ. - Strong understanding of continuous integration and continuous delivery practices, along with experience in containerization and modern deployment workflows. - Comfort integrating AI tools into engineering workflows, with a mindset that embraces innovation and leverages AI to enhance team productivity and outcomes. - Experience working in gaming, sports betting, fintech, or other highly regulated industries, leading large-scale migrations, and influencing teams outside your direct reporting line to drive adoption of shared tools and standards, is considered an advantage. #LI-OK1 Join Our Team We're a publicly traded (NASDAQ: DKNG) technology company headquartered in Boston.
