Role Description The Director of eCommerce will lead our Amazon business and broader pure‑play eCommerce channels—including Instacart, emerging marketplace partners, and Retail Media strategy. This leader will own the commercial strategy, execution, and P&L performance for Amazon while driving excellence in content, conversion, digital shelf presence, media efficiency, and customer experience. This is a highly visible, cross‑functional role responsible for accelerating growth, deepening retailer partnerships, and elevating our brands across all digital commerce platforms. The Director will collaborate closely with Sales, Marketing, Finance, Supply Chain, and external agency partners to deliver sustainable, profitable growth. Key Responsibilities - Amazon Ownership & Strategy: - Own the Amazon business end‑to‑end across assortment, forecasting, promotional strategy, content, retail media, and operational health. - Develop and deliver the Amazon annual operating plan, including revenue, profit, and share targets. - Monitor daily/weekly business performance, identifying drivers, risks, and opportunities across traffic, conversion, media, and profitability. - Sales, Forecasting & P&L Management: - Own the P&L for Amazon and pure‑play eCommerce channels, managing trade spend, media investment, and profitability levers. - Drive accurate forecasting in partnership with Demand Planning to ensure optimal in-stock levels and avoid out-of-stocks or over-inventory. - Lead monthly performance reviews and deliver recommendations to course‑correct as needed. - Content, Conversion & Digital Shelf Excellence: - Oversee best‑in‑class PDP content, A+ content, brand stores, images, and video—ensuring SEO strength and conversion optimization. - Partner with Marketing and Creative teams to maintain aligned branding and cohesive storytelling across all eCommerce touchpoints. - Manage ongoing PDP health (variations, ratings & reviews, keyword relevance, content testing). - Media & Retail Media Strategy: - Own Amazon media strategy and execution (Sponsored Products, Sponsored Brands, Sponsored Display, DSP). - Partner with Marketing/Media teams to develop integrated Retail Media plans across Amazon, Instacart, and other platforms. - Optimize investments to deliver efficient ROAS, TACoS, and share growth. - Pure‑Play eCommerce Growth: - Lead strategy and execution for Instacart and other digital commerce partners, defining assortment, promos, content, and media plans. - Build a scalable playbook for emerging online retailers and marketplace opportunities. - Partner with customer teams and marketing to ensure consistent activation and demand creation. - Cross‑Functional Leadership: - Act as the central connector between Sales, Marketing, Supply Chain, Finance, and external agency partners. - Ensure alignment on launch plans, promo calendars, media strategy, content updates, and operational requirements. - Present insights, dashboards, and performance updates to senior leadership regularly. - Data, Insights & Optimization: - Analyze customer, shopper, and category data to inform strategy, drive decision‑making, and fuel continuous improvement. - Stay ahead of platform changes, competitive movements, algorithm shifts, and best practices. - Build and enhance dashboards, KPIs, and reporting frameworks to drive accountability and clarity. - Team Leadership: - Lead and develop a high‑performing team, including two direct reports focused on marketplace operations and retail media. - Provide coaching, prioritization, and professional development to support organizational growth. Qualifications - 7–10+ years of experience in eCommerce, with at least 5 years focused on Amazon (Vendor and/or Seller Central). - Proven track record of owning and growing a major Amazon business (preferably CPG, food & beverage, or household goods). - Strong understanding of digital merchandising, conversion optimization, platform algorithms, and search performance. - Experience leading Retail Media programs with expertise in Amazon Ads and Instacart Ads. - Deep comfort with data analysis and translating insights into clear action plans. - Strong financial acumen with experience managing P&L, forecasting, and trade/media spend. - Excellent communication, collaboration, and executive‑level presentation skills. - Ability to operate with both strategic vision and hands‑on execution. - Experience managing external agencies; previous team‑leadership experience. Why This Role Matters Amazon and eCommerce are critical growth engines for our brands. This leader will define how we win online — ensuring we drive profitable sales, strengthen retailer partnerships, and deliver a best‑in‑class experience that reflects the strength of our portfolio. This role is central to shaping the future of our digital commerce strategy and accelerating long‑term, sustainable growth. ÜBER UNS Healthtech Ventures (HTV) is one of Germany’s most innovative and fastest-growing digital health companies. We operate a portfolio of integrated telemedicine platforms that connect patients, doctors, and pharmacies — making modern healthcare more accessible, efficient, and patient-centered. Our platforms — Prio One, SoLean, and Nordleaf — cover some of the most dynamic therapeutic areas, including women’s health, weight management, and medicinal cannabis. HTV combines medical expertise, digital excellence, and operational precision to deliver outstanding patient experiences and sustainable growth. DEINE AUFGABEN The Senior Shopify Engineer is the first engineer dedicated entirely to Shopify at HTV — responsible for designing and expanding the Shopify ecosystem across multiple brands and organisations. You own Shopify as a domain: Functions, Extensions, Liquid, and Custom Apps. No context-switching between Shopify and a dozen other systems. Your entire focus is the platform you know best. You work directly with the CPO on a daily basis, alongside platform heads and an existing strong backend engineering team. Shopify is your domain. You take what has been built on Nordleaf — PharmOps, multi-org architecture, checkout compliance — and make it work everywhere. 1. Shopify Architecture & Development - Build server-side logic using Shopify Functions and develop custom apps on GCP (Cloud Run, PostgreSQL) to power platform operations. - Manage multi-org pipelines using a single codebase to serve multiple Shopify Plus organizations with independent services and a shared database. - Lead Shopify architecture (themes, Functions, Extensions, custom apps) across all HTV brands, including Nordleaf, Prio One, and SoLean. 2. Cross-Platform Rollout - Design platform-agnostic features from day one to ensure repeatable, low-cost deployment across multiple brands. - Scale Nordleaf innovations, such as PharmOps and UTM attribution, to other platforms like Prio One and SoLean. - Collaborate with Platform Owners to adapt shared infrastructure to specific requirements without forking the codebase. 3. AI-Augmented Engineering - Champion an AI-first culture by evaluating and adopting new tooling to accelerate the Shopify development lifecycle. - Integrate AI tools like Claude and Cursor as core infrastructure to maintain high development velocity. 4. Quality & Standards - Automate deployments by building CI/CD pipelines and documenting all architecture decisions and technical specifications. - Own QA and code reviews to ensure high coding standards, mobile compatibility, and minimal production incidents. WAS DU MITBRINGEN SOLLTEST Required: - 5+ years hands-on Shopify development experience - Deep expertise with Shopify Plus: multi-store management, organisation-level features, Shopify Plus APIs - Expert-level Shopify Functions development (Rust or JavaScript/TypeScript runtimes) - Expert-level Shopify Extensions development (checkout extensions, app extensions, theme app extensions) - Advanced Liquid templating: complex logic, performance optimization, progressive enhancement patterns - Custom app development: Shopify App Bridge, Admin API, Storefront API, Webhooks - Strong experience with GCP or comparable cloud infrastructure (Cloud Run, Pub/Sub, PostgreSQL) - Git, CI/CD, and modern development workflows - Comfortable with AI-augmented development — uses AI tools daily as part of engineering workflow - Self-directed, high-ownership work style — you do not wait to be assigned tickets - Good English (B2+) Nice-to-Have: - Experience with headless commerce or Hydrogen/Remix - React/Node.js experience for custom app frontends - Experience with real-time systems (webhook pipelines, event-driven architecture) - Familiarity with telemedicine, healthcare, or regulated industries - Experience with multi-org Shopify Plus deployments - German language skills WAS WIR DIR BIETEN - Dedicated Focus: Enjoy a role with zero context-switching, allowing you to focus entirely on the Shopify platform. - High Autonomy: Join a high-trust environment with no layers of management, collaborating daily with the CPO. - Competitive Package: Receive highly competitive, investor-funded compensation within a fast-growing healthtech environment. - AI-First Culture: Work in an engineering culture that prioritizes output and velocity through AI-augmented workflows. - Career Growth: Benefit from clear advancement paths to Lead Shopify Engineer or Head of Frontend Engineering. - Flexible Location: Work from our Hamburg office or remotely from anywhere within Germany.
