Media Relations and Editorial Associate
Lanecraft Lab
Lanecraft Lab is a strategic advisory and communications firm that specializes in earned media visibility, executive positioning, communications strategy, and customer-facing narratives for emerging and established B2B and B2C brands. Our clients span sectors, from sports, technology, and creative services, to healthcare, infrastructure, and sustainability. Our team brings deep expertise spanning U.S. diplomacy and trade policy, facilities and infrastructure operations, and global health, along with decades of frontline communications and newsroom experience across top Tier-1 and trade media outlets, including the Wall Street Journal, CNBC, Forbes, Business World, TheStreet, and Golf Digest. We're looking for a Media Relations & Editorial Associate who is sharp, driven, self-directed, and serious about the craft. What you'll get is a fun environment with ample room for growth and visibility with the media and high-ranking executives and influencers. Lanecraft Lab was founded by Nish Amarnath, a seasoned communications strategist and former management consultant at KPMG with experience reporting for outlets like Reuters and the Wall Street Journal and advising the UK Government, World Bank, Meta, and Fortune 500 energy and infrastructure companies across North America, Europe, and Asia. Lanecraft Lab operates at the intersection of strategy, systems, and storytelling. We believe there's always a good story to be told, and there's always a journalist who wants to write it, and a podcast host who wants to tell it. We are extremely client-focused. We understand how newsroom decisions drive stories. We move fast, pitch smart, and write well. Responsibilities: This is a fully remote, part-time contract role, approximately 12–15 hours per week, at $22-$30/hour, depending on the candidate's experience. Candidates in the Eastern Time zone are preferred. Day-to-day responsibilities include: - Developing and distributing press releases and media advisories. - Writing pitches customized for reporters, editors, freelance journalists, contributors, and stringers. - Information-seeding with beat reporters at key Tier-1, trade, and regional media outposts, and managing media inquiries. - Drafting email interview responses, award submission packages, executive profiles, and talk summaries for speaking events, industry conferences, breakout sessions, and panels. - Collaborating on editorial content and client communications strategy. - Coordinating webinars and virtual events, as needed.
Job Requirements
- 2–4 years of experience in PR, communications, journalism, or content strategy. An agency or journalism background is strongly preferred.
- A strong writer and an instinctive editor who can work fast without losing quality and factual accuracy.
- Proven experience pitching journalists / podcast hosts and securing coverage. If you are contacted for an interview, please be ready to speak to specific placements.
- Familiarity with media outreach tools (Qwoted, Prowly, Muck Rack, Cision, or Meltwater)
- Comfortable working independently in a lean, fast-moving environment with high standards
- Experience across business, sports, health, or lifestyle verticals is a plus.
- A Bachelor's degree in Communications, Journalism, PR, Marketing, or related field is required.
- A Master's degree in Communications, Journalism, Marketing, PR, or adjacent field is a plus.
- Lanecraft Lab is an equal opportunity employer. We believe in diversity, equity, and inclusion. We seek applications from all qualified candidates without regard to race, ethnicity, religion, gender, sex, age, military and veteran status, physical or mental disability, and any other factor protected by federal, state, or local law.
Benefits
