The vision of the EdD in Leadership and Innovation program is to promote a future where professionals from various fields lead positive systemic change efforts that result in high-performing, innovative, and inclusive environments. The mission of the EdD program is to equip students with the knowledge, skills, and experiences needed to thrive as scholar-practitioners and leaders within their professional fields. Our approach to education is interdisciplinary, and Midland believes that different backgrounds and knowledge bases contribute to well-rounded and diverse ways of thinking and leading. We value reflection, innovation, and inquiry to examine complex problems and to effectively develop solutions to promote positive and sustainable change. In EDD 804: Multiple Perspectives on Teaching and Learning course, Students explore multiple theoretical perspectives of teaching and learning (e.g., behaviorism, cognitive, constructivist, social cognitive, sociocultural, transformative) and evaluate the usefulness of these theories in professional practice. They continue to contextualize their Problem of Practice through a teaching and learning lens. Through critical reflection and an analysis of literature, students have the opportunity to propose teaching and learning strategies to enhance innovation, and to develop a plan to enhance teaching and learning practices related to their area(s) of interest. Responsibilities: Reporting to the Associate Dean of Graduate Programs and Strategic Partnerships, the doctoral instructor will be responsible for teaching EDD 804: Multiple Perspectives on Teaching and Learning. This position is critical for providing a quality education for students and ensuring their persistence toward the completion of their degree plans. Responsibilities include the following: Teach Students and Assess Student Work in Canvas: Adhere to the mission, program learning outcomes, course learning outcomes, activities, and assessments for which the course has been designed. Provide individualized student feedback on assignments and activities. Convey command of and enthusiasm for course content by providing insight and sharing expertise with the class throughout the course (e.g., via discussions, announcements, and student feedback). Use grading rubrics to provide detailed feedback on student assignments based upon the assignment criteria. Broaden and deepen students’ understanding of the course material by posting prompts and responses in the course discussions. Engage Students Regularly and in a Timely Fashion: Communicate with doctoral students on a regular basis via a “welcome” email; weekly announcements and emails; in discussions; and via student feedback on assignments and activities. Create a welcoming and collaborative online learning environment that is professional, positive, and respectful. Respond to communications received by the Program Director and/or Dean and students within 24 hours during the business week.
