Reinsurance Complex Claims Analyst

• Proactively handle allocated claims to a high standard, including overall assessment of losses and reserves, and negotiation with counterparties to achieve timely settlements • Manage mid to large complex and disputed claims • Identify and report new trends or changes in the behavior of claims portfolio • Act as main contact and account manager of all assumed claims made by assigned cedent • Review and conduct analysis of reinsurance contracts. Evaluate coverage and all issues presented in claim cession, prepare claim inquiries, position letters and settlement agreements with minimal oversight • Conduct on-site and/or virtual claim audits of ceding companies • Identify and deliver opportunities for claims savings • Provide technical assistance in the due diligence process for new acquisitions, including the assessment of claims-related risks and opportunities • Understand new accounts upon acquisition, deliver against opportunities identified in due diligence • Manage arbitration/litigation and testify on behalf of the company as a witness in arbitration/litigation activity when required • Provide training and technical support to less experienced team members • Master the review and analysis of complex treaty programs and facultative certificates, complex coverage and contract issues and an understanding of underlying claims

Job Requirements

  • Minimum of 5-7 years of handling complex assumed claims and coverage experience preferred.
  • Experience with either asbestos, pollution and/or abuse claims would be highly desirable.
  • Four-year college degree required or equivalent work experience.
  • High level of claims handling technical experience and knowledge, providing consistently high-quality claims handling.
  • Knowledge of key terms and conditions in contracts / policies and general knowledge of key legal positions in relevant jurisdictions.
  • Effective verbal and written communication skills
  • Understanding of data analysis and trends.

  • Ability to develop good working relationships with both internal and external stakeholders.
