• Own End-to-End Payroll Execution and Oversight • Oversee and design the strategic framework for payroll operations, ensuring accurate, timely payroll processing for the US and Canada across federal, state, and provincial jurisdictions • Direct rigorous reviews and validate payroll runs, deductions, tax withholdings, and benefits contributions before and after processing • Drive scalable delivery models of payroll operations across a growing employee population • Serve as Payroll Platform Owner • Serve as the definitive subject matter expert for the payroll vendor platform (currently ADP), with ownership of configuration, audits, tax filings, and issue resolution • Manage external payroll provider relationships to ensure SLA adherence and data integrity • Provide leadership and expertise in potential future vendor transitions as business needs evolve • Act as the Connector Between Payroll, HRIS, and Finance Systems • Partner with People Solutions and Corporate Technology to ensure accurate payroll data flows across systems for employee lifecycle events • Investigate and resolve discrepancies between payroll platforms, HRIS, and financial systems • Collaborate closely with Finance with payroll reconciliations, accruals, journal entries, and variance analysis • Drive Payroll Accuracy, Controls, and Compliance • Own payroll reconciliations and issue resolution across variances, tax withholdings, deductions, and garnishments • Collaborate with Finance on designing SOX-aligned controls, audits, and compliance reporting (W-2s, T4s, year-end filings) • Serve as the primary escalation point for tax notices, audits, employee inquiries, and regulatory changes • Support Process Improvements and Scalability • Identify and implement improvements through automation, standardization, and enhanced documentation • Partner with teams and vendors to optimize workflows and strengthen controls • Lead and Develop the Payroll Function • Lead, mentor, and develop a distributed payroll team, including direct reports and close collaborators across international time zones. • Foster strong collaboration, clear accountability, and consistent payroll standards across the team. • Establish standard operating procedures, documentation, and scalable workflows. • Identify automation and process improvement opportunities to enhance accuracy and employee experience.

Job Requirements

  • 7+ years of payroll experience, with hands-on ownership of complex payroll operations
  • Experience managing payroll through third-party providers (e.g., ADP or similar) and integrations with HR systems (e.g., Workday)
  • Strong understanding of payroll compliance, controls, audits, and tax reporting (W-2, T4, multi-state payroll).
  • Experience operating in a scaling, public-company or SOX-controlled environment.
  • Strong cross-functional collaboration skills and a high bar for accuracy, ownership, and employee experience.
  • Willingness to engage with direct reports and peers located in European and Asia time zones, including occasional evening calls and international travel
  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, HR, or a related field.
