ABOUT THE ROLE As a Backend Engineer, you will help design and scale high-performance systems that power a modern Ads platform, handling large volumes of real-time data. You’ll work closely with product and data teams to build reliable services and APIs that directly impact campaign performance and business outcomes. This role offers strong ownership, exposure to distributed systems, and the opportunity to grow your architectural skills in a fast-paced, product-driven environment. WHAT YOU WILL DO - Architect, build, and evolve core systems for the Ads platform; - Design APIs and services supporting campaign management, targeting, delivery, attribution, and reporting; - Build and optimize high-throughput, low-latency systems processing large volumes of events and data; - Own critical systems end-to-end, including design, implementation, deployment, monitoring, and ongoing improvements; - Drive architectural decisions and establish patterns that support scalability, reliability, and developer productivity; - Collaborate closely with product, data, and partner teams to translate business requirements into robust technical solutions; - Provide technical leadership through design reviews, system discussions, and mentoring other engineers; - Contribute to engineering best practices, documentation, and long-term platform vision; - Participate in hiring and help grow a strong, high-performing team. MUST HAVES - 3–4 years of software development experience building scalable systems; - Experience with AdTech; - Strong understanding of computer science fundamentals (algorithms, data structures, networking, databases); - Proven experience designing and scaling distributed systems focusing on performance, observability, and fault tolerance; - Experience with Python / Django, or other backend programming languages; - Experience with Kubernetes, PostgreSQL, and AWS; - Strong architectural instincts and ability to make high-impact technical decisions; - Ability to mentor engineers and guide teams through ambiguity; - Strong ownership mindset with ability to drive initiatives and deliver impact; - Excellent communication and cross-functional collaboration skills; - Comfort working in a fast-paced, high-autonomy, product-driven environment; - Upper-intermediate English level. • Develop and maintain REST and GraphQL APIs that drive our web applications and automation • Develop and maintain production code for quality and performance; ensure code is clear and well tested • Develop and maintain integrations with services such as AWS, Okta, ServiceNow, Salesforce, and New Relic • Participate in software delivery processes such as refining work scope, estimating effort, code reviewing, testing, maintenance and recommending operational improvements • Promote, contribute and maintain clear and concise documentation on our code base • Collaborate with senior engineers to implement improvements to design and processes • Collaborate with other teams to advise on technical feasibility of feature requirements • Identify and enforce information security controls and best practices in Mission’s production environments • Participate in occasional on-call rotations; one week per quarter • Support internal Mission teams by providing technical and operational guidance for systems and tools managed by the Product Development team

• Own and develop the front-end layer using HTML, CSS, JavaScript, and jQuery • Build and maintain backend functionality using .NET Framework 4.8 and/or .NET 6+ • Develop and support web applications using C# and ASP.NET MVC • Write and maintain MS SQL queries and basic stored procedures • Design, consume, and support RESTful APIs • Contribute to applications built within a multi-tenant SaaS architecture • Use Visual Studio for development and Azure DevOps for source control, work items, and pipelines • Troubleshoot and resolve front-end and backend issues • Collaborate with team members to deliver reliable, scalable, and maintainable solutions
