Role Description We are currently looking for auditors based in the United States to collaborate with us on a need-to-basis (project-based) engagement. Please note: Applications from candidates inside the United States will be accepted only. - Perform audits of halal food / pharma / cosmetic facilities, supply chains, and related processes to ensure compliance with relevant halal and quality standards (e.g., OIC/SMIIC, GSO, SJPH, etc.). - Evaluate documentation, procedures, and practices to verify adherence to halal certification requirements. - Assess the effectiveness of halal management systems (HMS) and identify areas for improvement. - Prepare detailed audit reports, including non-conformities, observations, and recommendations for corrective actions. - Communicate audit findings to clients and provide guidance on achieving and maintaining compliance. - Offer technical support and advice to clients on implementing and improving halal systems. - Verify that corrective actions have been implemented effectively to address non-conformities. - Ensure that certified organizations maintain ongoing compliance with applicable standards. - Participate in training and professional development to maintain auditing competence. - Work closely with certification body teams, including other auditors, technical managers, and certification decision-makers. - Support the development and improvement of audit protocols and certification processes. - Travel to client sites, which may include domestic and international locations, to conduct on-site audits. Qualifications - Minimum Bachelor’s degree in Food Science, Microbiology, Chemistry, Pharmacology, Biotechnology, Agriculture, or a related field. - Additional certifications in halal auditing (e.g., lead auditor, FSSC 22000, or equivalent) are highly desirable. - Prior experience as a halal and/or food quality auditor or in implementing halal and/or food safety management systems. - In-depth understanding of halal, halal dietary laws, halal production requirements is a must. - Knowledge of halal and food safety standards (e.g., GSO, OIC/SMIIC, ISO 22000, HACCP, BRC, FSSC 22000, etc.). - Familiarity with halal production processes, supply chain management, and regulatory requirements. - Strong analytical and problem-solving skills. - Excellent communication and interpersonal skills for client interactions. - Attention to detail and the ability to work independently. - Proficiency in report writing and documentation. - Ethical and impartial, with a commitment to maintaining the integrity of the certification process. - Strong organizational and time management skills. - Ability to handle multiple projects and meet deadlines. - Frequent travel to client sites, including remote or rural locations. - Flexible working hours to accommodate audit schedules and client needs.
