We are looking for a Staff Software Engineer who can contribute across the product — building new features, improving existing systems, and helping the team work more efficiently. You will work across our stack (PHP 8.2 / Laravel 10), Node.JS, Golang, and React frontend (React 18 + TypeScript + Vite), and AWS infrastructure, contributing directly to production code while helping improve workflows, documentation, and processes. Job Requirements

  • What You’ll Do
  • Design and build scalable, fault-tolerant systems across product and infrastructure
  • Own end-to-end architecture decisions across multiple services
  • Lead development of core platform primitives (content, identity, transactions, messaging)
  • Improve performance, reliability, and system observability
  • Work closely with founders to translate product vision into technical systems
  • Set engineering standards, best practices, and code quality bar
  • Mentor engineers and help level up the team
  • Identify and eliminate bottlenecks across the stack
  • What We’re Looking For
  • Experience
  • 8+ years of software engineering experience
  • Proven experience designing and scaling complex distributed systems
  • Experience working on high-growth products or platforms

What the Scale Team Does - Embedded Finance Platform: Build and maintain the multi-tenant infrastructure powering companies like Rippling, Navan, Qantas, and SHEIN. You'll architect systems that aggregate requests from all platform customers, meeting enterprise-grade SLAs for availability, latency, and throughput while handling cross-data-center scenarios. - Cross-Domain Product Features: Own features that require synthesizing knowledge across business, regulatory, and technical domains-areas where no single existing team has full coverage, like tax systems, compliance-driven flows, or monetization tools. - Solutions Architecture: Design integrations for enterprise prospects by translating their business requirements into technical solutions.
