Snowed in Studios is a game development studio based in Ottawa, Canada. As part of Keywords Studios’ Game Development service line, we provide development support to some of the most important and exciting games being made today. We are currently searching for an experienced and technically minded 3D Artist/Animator to join our growing team. What you will be doing - Working closely with client studios and art directors to bring their games to life - Matching existing art styles to create 3D game-ready assets - Designing, modelling, and texturing characters, props, and environment assets in a variety of art styles - Rigging and creating simple animations for a variety of animals, characters and robots - Troubleshooting 3D asset and pipeline issues and providing solutions - Building a solid relationship with your game development peers in-house and around the world - Supporting your teammates to accomplish goals
Job Requirements
- What you’ll bring to the table
- 3+ years experience in video game art and/or animation
- Ability to work in and switch between multiple art styles
- Strong understanding of art and animation fundamentals
- Strong understanding of 3D art pipeline and ability to solve integration issues as they arise
- Strong knowledge of standard digital art software: Photoshop, 3DSMax/Maya/Blender, Surface painter/designer etc.
- Experience working in game engines, especially Unity
- Excellent problem-solving skills
- Open-minded and team-oriented
- Curious and always learning
- Strong organizational and communication skills
- Portfolio of applicable work with focus in 3D, rigging and animation
- Bonus Points
- Shipped Game title(s)
- Experience with game cinematics development
- Experience with real-time VFX
- Experience optimizing assets for mobile games
- In-game lighting experience
- Leadership and mentoring skills
- Experience working directly with external clients
- Experience in PBR and material/shader creation process

- Salary Range: $70,000 to $100,000 CAD based on experience and skillset

Insomniac Games is looking for a Senior Character Artist. In this role, you will be responsible for modeling character art assets (models, textures, and shaders for characters, props, and other key assets) at the highest quality level set by Lead Artists and Art Directors. They mentor, tutor, and assist other artists to improve workflows and content pipeline. Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following: - Creates character content at a consistently expert quality level delivered on schedule and meeting performance targets. - Works with Art Directors and Lead Artists to establish art direction and with the character art team to maintain art direction for the game, providing constructive feedback as needed. - Mentors, tutors, and aids others based on documented workflows. - Provides support for both independent and embedded Co-Dev resources and organizes work for Ex-Dev resources including creating briefs and reviewing and integrating deliveries. - Experiments with and evaluates techniques to improve efficiency, workflow, and visual fidelity in our character art pipeline. - Assists in establishing and maintaining performance targets and collaborates with other departments to ensure art is implemented appropriately in the game engine. - Assists with creating documentation in Confluence, or equivalent. - Assists with tasking in JIRA, Flow, or equivalent. - Other duties may be assigned Supervisory Responsibilities: This job has no supervisory responsibilities, however this role mentors more junior artists.
