Infrastructure Specialist
The Nature Conservancy
• Coordinate the continued implementation of sustainable infrastructure and clean energy transition projects, including monitoring and evaluation. • Monitor project progress throughout its lifecycle and proactively and regularly alert the program coordinator of any obstacles or delays in activities or deliverables. • Review the technical, financial, policy, and regulatory frameworks guiding infrastructure development in Peru, with focus in the Amazon, including the relevant institutional roles and capacities of public and private stakeholders that will enable the adoption of environmental and social considerations. • Provide technical support for integrating sustainability into infrastructure and clean energy plans, program and projects, planning strategies, coordination spaces, and financing mechanisms to reduce the adverse impacts of infrastructure development. • Design and develop conservation strategies for infrastructure and clean energy applying the mitigation hierarchy. • Engage and coordinate with government, NGO conservation partners, development partners, indigenous organizations, academia, and the private sector. • Coordinate risks management, collaboratively resolve issues and conflicts using project management processes, ensuring compliance with organizational standards. • Provide technical information and guidance related to project development, collaborative agreements, national policy support, technical capacity requirements, etc., based on analysis, experience, and context. • Support the strategic planning for the Infrastructure Program (theory of change, metrics), resource mobilization and assist in writing grant proposals to access funding for research and conservation projects related to infrastructure and clean energy. • Contribute to science-based analysis, reports, publications, and presentations to communicate research findings to diverse audiences. • Coordinate budgets, contracts and vendor negotiations. • Coordinate data management and develop content/reports to meet reporting requirements and other communication needs, including TNC internal reports, donor reports, impact reports, and other ad hoc requests. • Organize workshops, meetings, or consultations necessary to perform the duties of the position. • Ensure program compliance with internal policies and external requirements. • Ability and willingness to travel nationally and internationally to conferences, workshops, symposia, and other infrastructure and clean energy-related meetings, including nights and weekends, ensuring alignment with program objectives. • Work may involve variable weather conditions, remote locations, and physically demanding circumstances.
Job Requirements
- BA/BS, law or business degree and 5 years’ experience in environmental engineering, natural resource management or related field or equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Experience working in the Peruvian Amazon
- Experience communicating with the public and/or media both in writing and verbally.
- Experience communicating with key stakeholders, such as government, donors, multilaterals, private sector and civil society.
- Experience negotiating complex agreements.
- Experience in developing and implementing training workshops, preparing terms of reference for services, and curriculum design.
- Completing tasks independently with respect to timeline(s).
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office tools, such as Word, Excel and Power Point; web browsers; and geospatial applications, including GIS and remote sensing for environmental analysis and spatial planning.
- Fluency in Spanish and excellent communication skills in English (written, spoken and graphical).
