Position Details The goal of the Internship Program is to provide a well-rounded experience for interns that provides an opportunity to see the impact of your work. As an intern, you will gain valuable exposure to our work, and will be provided with opportunities to make connections to support the development of your career. The Opportunities We are looking for interns to gain experience with and support the following teams: Development - General: This team supports operations, events, community building, database management, and data analysis related to fundraising. - Responsibilities may include: maintaining the donor database, data-backed fundraising projects, donor event support, assisting relationship managers Operations - People & Culture: This team supports recruitment, hiring, benefits, payroll, professional development and learning, and onboarding and offboarding. - Responsibilities may include: resume reviews, candidate communications, scheduling and coordination, professional development and workplace culture events coordination - Finance: This team supports budgeting, financial reporting, accounts payable and receivable, and organizational financial planning. - Responsibilities may include: data entry and reconciliation, invoice processing, expense tracking and reporting, and research and administrative support for budgeting and financial operations - Events/IT/Administration: This team provides all around support for the Operations Team such as for events coordination, IT logistics, and administrative management - Responsibilities may include: helping manage onboarding into key systems, coordinating event logistics, tracking IT compliance tasks, and pitching in on ad hoc projects as they arise. Legal - General: This team provides in-house legal and compliance support by working with outside counsel, answering questions, and preparing training materials and policies. *Law student interns preferred - Responsibilities may include: Legal research support in the areas of campaign finance, nonprofit, copyright, employment law and other areas; designing and executing compliance systems. The States Project The States Project focuses on improving Americans’ lives by winning state legislative power and working with lawmakers to achieve goals for the common good. - Lawmaker Communications Intern: This intern will work with The States Project in their work on communications and messaging tools designed specifically in the context of state legislatures. - Responsibilities may include: Researching state legislative media, developing media analyses, and assisting with local press monitoring and reporting. - Policy Intern: This intern will work with The States Project in their work on policy research and frameworks designed specifically in the context of state legislatures. - Responsibilities may include: Supporting the development and delivery of policy resources and programming, policy research, tracking legislative trends, and attending partner briefings/webinars. Qualifications: - High school diploma or equivalent and 1-2 years of additional study or work experience - Passion for building the power in states to achieve the American Promise. - Exceptional critical thinking and creative problem-solving skills - Ability to exercise excellent judgment while handling sensitive and confidential information - Capable of independently managing time and tasks associated with a fast-paced organization - Clear communication skills $22 - $22 an hour Compensation: The salary for this position is $22 per hour*. We will work with you to help you obtain school credit where applicable. All internship opportunities will be remote.
