Job Description

Junior/Intermediate Bookkeeper

• Responsible for managing end-to-end bookkeeping and payroll functions for Australian clients, ensuring accuracy, compliance, and quality across all deliverables • Reviewing work completed by Intermediate Bookkeepers to ensure accuracy and adherence to standards • Perform end-to-end bank reconciliations and resolve discrepancies • Enter, review, and manage accounts payable and accounts receivable • Process end-to-end Australian payroll and maintain payroll compliance • Prepare and review BAS and IAS in accordance with Australian GST legislation • Ensure accuracy and completeness of client records across systems • Identify issues, anomalies, or process gaps and address or escalate as required • Maintain high-quality bookkeeping standards across multiple clients

Job Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field in bookkeeping preferred
  • Minimum 3–4 years of Australian bookkeeping experience
  • Has pursued bookkeeping as a career, preferably within an Australian bookkeeping firm handling multiple clients
  • Australian payroll experience required
  • Strong understanding of Australian GST law, including preparation of BAS and IAS
  • Demonstrated process development and improvement skills
  • Excellent customer service skills
  • Strong knowledge of Microsoft Office applications including Outlook, Word, and Excel
  • Must have end-to-end experience using Xero
  • Experience with Simpro or Employment Hero Payroll is beneficial (training will be provided)
  • Ability and willingness to learn new systems and tools
  • Works within Hammerjack quality guidelines
  • Ensures quality of work is delivered with minimal supervision
  • High level of written and verbal English skills
