As a Project Engineer, Civil you will work within a team to take designs and construction projects from a defined concept to completion. You will design conceptual site layout and utility plans, perform engineering calculations, produce construction documents, and prepare technical documentation while working collaboratively to coordinate your work across an integrated team of other designers, architects, and engineers. Location: We are open to hiring for remote work from any location in the US. Preferred Experience: - Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering or equivalent education and/or experience - Professional Engineer (PE) licensure is required for this role - Experience with utility planning, stormwater design, and site layout - Proficiency in AutoCAD, Civil 3D, and Revit - Experience working on restaurant, grocery, retail, or healthcare projects is helpful What matters to our associates matters to us. JOB SUMMARY The Senior Engineer is responsible for the planning, management, supervision, and coordination of professional engineering work related to the planning, design, construction, and maintenance of various public works projects. The Senior Engineer manages multiple public works projects simultaneously, supervises project staff, activities and tasks, coordinates project development and progress with clients, and provides technical support for internal and external stakeholders. RESPONSIBILITIES - Develop and supervise teams of engineers for the preparation of plans, specifications and estimates for construction of public works projects. - Direct engineering staff to perform complex engineering work for public works projects, ensuring technical competence and compliance with governing regulations. - Develop and monitor project budget and schedule to ensure timely project delivery. - Coordinate project activities with all stakeholders including but not limited to the project team, field personnel, agency staff, utility companies, other consultants and contractors. - Maintain knowledge of the latest Caltrans and/or AASHTO design and construction standards and specifications. - Work closely with clients and project teams. - Perform other related duties as required. QUALIFICATIONS - 6+ years of progressive engineering experience. - Ability to mentor mid-level design staff. - Bachelor’s degree in civil engineering from an accredited college or university. - Current California Professional Engineer License is required. Specialty certifications are highly desired. - Well versed in the principles and practices of engineering and applicable laws and codes related to public works projects with a high level of independent judgement. - Experience with methods, materials, and techniques used in the design and construction of public works projects. - Proven track record for successfully completing roadway projects – e.g. pavement rehabilitation, complete streets, bicycle/pedestrian facilities, intersection, storm drainage, and stormwater quality measures. - Proficient in AutoCAD, Civil 3D, and/or any hydrologic, hydraulic and stormwater management design software. - Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
