Job Description

Senior Platform Solutions Engineer

Optimal Ways

• Our Sr. Platform Solutions Engineer (SPSE) plays a critical role in both deploying the Optimal Dynamics platform and sustaining success for existing customers. • The role focuses on translating solution designs into data-driven configurations, working within customer data environments, and validating optimization model outputs against expected operational behaviors. • By analyzing data flows and tuning model parameters, the SPSE ensures that model recommendations perform as expected and create measurable value in live operations. • The SPSE also serves as an escalation point for complex technical issues, often requiring deep analysis of model logic, input data, and solutioning approaches. • Our SPSE acts as a technical bridge between Solutions Engineering, Product, and our customers. • Partnering functional and technical knowledge to drive seamless implementations and long-term value. • Design and implement reliable data pipelines to ingest, transform, and load transportation data from diverse customer sources. • Integrate the Optimal Dynamics platform with customer systems using APIs, SFTP, flat files, and direct database connections. • Ensure data quality, completeness, and alignment with platform requirements and optimization needs. • Troubleshoot data or integration issues quickly and effectively in coordination with internal and customer teams. • Calibrate optimization and simulation models to reflect real-world operational constraints and customer objectives. • Collaborate with Solutions Engineers to translate solution design documents into and executable platform configurations. • Iterate on model parameters and technical settings based on output validation, performance metrics, and user feedback. • Validate that optimization recommendations align with expected outcomes and customer business rules. • Partner with Solutions Engineers to align data and model configurations with solution intent as a core technical lead on projects. • Participate in project planning, milestone tracking, and customer meetings, ensuring transparency and alignment. • Provide clear documentation of data flows, configurations, and technical decisions to support knowledge transfer and scaling. • Support feedback loops between Customer Success, Product, & Engineering teams. • Monitor system performance and model behavior during and after deployment to ensure solution effectiveness. • Identify calibration or integration updates based on operational feedback and observed data patterns. • Provide technical support to transitioned customers, including troubleshooting issues and resolving support tickets in coordination with the Customer Support team. • Serve as an escalation point for complex platform-related issues post-deployment. • Contribute to the continuous improvement of our deployment frameworks, tooling, and playbooks.

Job Requirements

  • Educated: BSc or MSc degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Data Science, Math, or equivalent industry experience.
  • Experienced: 5+ years of professional, hands-on product or data science engineering experience designing, building, and maintaining complex solutions with emphasis on full-stack solutions.
  • Proficiency in Python 3
  • Hands-on experience with major cloud platforms (especially AWS)
  • Hands-on relational database experience (i.e. Postgres, MySQL, SQL Server)
  • Knowledge of ops research, optimization, and/or simulation models
  • Some background experience in ML
  • Experience with transportation optimization: i.e. network planning, asset-to-load assignment, or routing and dispatch decision support.
  • Customer-Focused Executor: You design and deploy technical solutions with a clear focus on customers’ goals and constraints
  • Analytically Precise: You work methodically to validate assumptions, spot discrepancies, and optimize system performance
  • Collaborative Leader: You partner naturally with engineers, PMs, and executives to deliver end-to-end solutions
  • Accountable Owner: You take initiative, value follow-through, and quality output
  • Technical Translator: You translate complex technical issues into actionable insights for both internal teams and external partners
  • Growth Focused: You’re driven by continuous learning, adapting, and bringing best practices to your work.
