Design Critic
Weekday (YC W21)
• Evaluate and critique AI-generated visual outputs across different design formats and mediums. • Analyze aesthetics, composition, and visual reasoning to improve AI understanding of design principles. • Collaborate asynchronously with a multidisciplinary team of designers and researchers. • Contribute to the development and refinement of AI-driven design workflows. • Provide structured, high-quality feedback through written critiques, reviews, and analysis.
Job Requirements
- 1+ year of professional experience in a visual, critique-based, or design-related field (including design, media, or journalism).
- Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in a relevant field such as:
- Art History
- Visual Arts
- Graphic Design
- Design Theory
- Architecture
- Visual Culture Studies
- Film & Media Studies
- Illustration
- Editorial Design
- Journalism (with a visual or arts focus)
- Experience writing or presenting critical analysis of visual work (e.g., essays, reviews, critiques, editorial content, or academic writing).
- Exposure to LLMs, generative AI tools, or prompt-based workflows.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Strong attention to detail and analytical thinking.
- Based in U.S., Canada, New Zealand, Europe, Australia, or Brazil.
