Job Description

Data Scientist

Crum & Forster

• Support and improve backend data workflows, recurring data processes, and reporting infrastructure used by the team • Build and maintain automation tools to improve data preparation, reporting support, and workflow efficiency • Investigate data quality issues, identify root causes, and help implement sustainable fixes and controls • Document data sources, transformation logic, validation checks, and workflow steps to improve maintainability and continuity • Support productionized data workflows by helping manage updates, troubleshooting issues, and maintaining operational stability • Follow structured practices around version control, testing, documentation, and change management to support reliable data processes • Partner with team members and stakeholders to translate business needs into practical data solutions • Provide reporting and dashboard data support as needed, in partnership with BI-focused team members • Implement and assess predictive models to support broad functional areas across the division • Other duties as assigned

Job Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Data Science, Statistics, Mathematics, Economics, Computer Science, or a related field from an accredited college or university or equivalent experience
  • 3+ years of experience in data analysis, data operations, analytics engineering, reporting infrastructure, or a related role
  • Strong SQL skills and experience working with relational databases
  • Proficient in Python for scripting, data processing, or workflow automation
  • Experience with data transformation, validation, ETL workflows, and repeatable backend processes
  • Familiarity with version control tools and collaborative development practices
  • Familiarity with structured development lifecycle processes, including testing, documentation, and controlled deployment of data workflows
  • Experience with predictive analytics/ML models is a plus
  • Experience working in a regulated environment with established controls and documentation standards is a plus
  • Experience with Tableau or Power BI is a plus
