Head of Data
UP.Labs
• Lead and develop best practices for data identification, modeling, testing, and deployment • Build mobile and web-based data collectors, data processing pipelines, and predictive ML models • Oversee and lead the data organization with a hands-on approach to building processes & playbooks • Recruit your team, setting goals, aligning strategies, and managing expectations • Establish data science, engineering, and advanced analytics as organizational capabilities • Design, construct, and manage data architecture (data warehouses, data lakes, data pipelines) • Oversee data privacy and security protocols to ensure compliance • Direct the application of machine learning, particularly computer vision, to product offerings • Hire, retain, and mentor a diverse, world-class team; enhance employee performance via evaluation and coaching
Job Requirements
- 8+ years experience within data engineering and/or science
- 5+ years of experience leading, developing, and scaling data teams
- Success as a cross-functional people manager in a high-growth environment
- Expertise in data storage, retrieval, and data architecture
- Experience in ML, computer vision, Recommendation Engine, AR
- Leadership experience in early-stage, venture-backed growth companies
- Extensive knowledge of data architecture (data warehouses, data lakes, pipelines)
- Experience with agile, lean, Continuous Delivery approaches (Continuous Integration, TDD, Infrastructure as Code)
- Experience building cloud native software architectures
- High EQ and low ego; ability to recruit and retain talent and develop a values-oriented culture
- Exceptional collaboration, communication, and leadership skills
