Lead Application Modernization Engineer

• Provide technical delivery leadership within a project or workstream under the guidance of an account leader or architect • Accountable for technical excellence for the assigned project or workstream • Uplift engineers, both client's and Liatrio teammates • Able to architect a technical solution, articulate the solution clients, and lead a small team of engineers to implement the solution • Serve as a technical point of contact, providing architectural guidance and the Liatrio point of view to the client • Organize work for team members, breaking down tasks regularly and pairing with other engineers • Mentor junior team members, including 1:1 meetings, providing feedback, guiding technical growth
Job Requirements
- Employment eligibility: must be authorized to work in the United States or Canada without the need for sponsorship.
- Travel availability: we divide our time between working remotely and visiting our client sites located throughout the U.S. For most roles, travel typically ranges from 10-50%, depending on client need.
- Significant experience with many of the tools and technologies we frequently use with our clients.

This Opportunity WSP is currently initiating a search for a Technical Director, Electrical Engineer with an Electrical Studies emphasis for our Boise, Idaho office. Remote candidates will also be considered for Clarkston, WA, Portland, OR, San Diego, CA, Denver, CO, Salt Lake City, UT and Fort Worth, TX. Be involved in projects with our Electrical Studies, SCADA, and Protection (ESSP) and be a part of a growing organization that meets our clients' objectives and solves their challenges. The successful applicant will be responsible for successful completion of assigned projects and for maintaining and improving client relationships. Completion of these functions requires technical competence in primary production roles as well as leadership competence in working with clients and mentoring and supervising team members assigned to projects. Assigned projects will include electrical studies for utility and industrial/commercial clients. Systems to be analyzed will include conventional and renewable generation facilities, substations, and transmission and distribution systems. The level of this engineer requires an individual who has experience participating in the proposal writing process as well as enjoying customer contact to assist in developing new opportunities for POWER. This person must be able to independently manage with a strong conceptualization ability, strong interpersonal communication, and organizational skills including the capability to explain complex technical issues at a variety of levels to decision-makers and project teams. Your Impact: Candidates for this role will have familiarity, experience, or possibly even expertise with some of the items listed below. However, we are realistic in our expectations of your professional experience, and do not expect you to have expertise or experience in all of these areas. A willingness to learn in areas where you do not have experience and to teach others in areas where you do have experience is essential to being successful on our team. - Design Studies: substation grounding, corona and electric and magnetic fields, insulation coordination (lightning, switching surge, and contamination performance), transient (time domain) simulation, power quality (harmonics, voltage flicker, over/under voltage, etc.), electromagnetic frequency interference, motor starting, AC interference (transmission line interaction with railroads and pipelines). - Applicable Software: CDEGS, ATP-EMTP, PSCAD, WinIGS, TFlash, XGSLab, COMSOL, CAFEP, Polaris - Leadership: Coordinate, review and approve electrical infrastructure design plans for mid-level and complex projects, ensuring data integrity and work is compliant with all applicable codes, ordinances, and regulations. - Working knowledge or awareness of applicable industry practices outlined in IEEE, IEC, ANSI, CIGRE, AMPP, EPRI or NERC standards and regulations for design work. - Exercise responsible and ethical decision-making regarding company funds, resources, and conduct, and adhere to WSP’s Code of Conduct and related policies and procedures. - Perform additional responsibilities as required by business needs. Who You Are: Required Qualifications - Bachelor’s Degree in Electrical Engineering (or equivalent experience). - 12+ years of relevant post education experience as an electrical engineer executing deliverables for Electrical Studies projects in power generation, transmission, and distribution at a utility, industrial, or commercial scale. - Professional Engineering (PE) license or equivalent (multi-state preferred). - Advanced proficiency with electrical engineering principles, practices, process, design/build, standard of care, and the application to permitting and project work-related issues. - Works independently and provides guidance and leadership to mid-level to senior level team or project members, with strict adherence to QA/QC. - Must be flexible to a variety of schedules to meet business needs and able to prioritize responsibilities and quickly adapt to change. - Occasional travel may be required depending on project-specific requirements. - Proven track record of upholding workplace safety and ability to abide by WSP’s health, safety and drug/alcohol and harassment policies.
