Job Requirements

  • IHK trainer aptitude certificate (AEVO), an equivalent qualification, or willingness to obtain such certification
  • Qualification as an IT specialist in Application Development or System Integration (Fachinformatiker), or a degree in IT
  • Ideally: experience with key IHK topics — final examinations under the new AO 2020 (AP1 and AP2), examination requirements, deadlines, admission criteria, and workplace project work
  • Several years of professional experience in IT
  • Teaching experience in adult education, preferably in publicly funded training programs
  • Willingness to pursue continuous professional development

Job Description: Systems Engineer – Rail/ Transit Opportunity : Parsons is now hiring an experienced Systems Engineer with extensive experience in brownfield resignaling systems in support of rail transit projects in North America. In this role, the candidate will be responsible for working with transit agencies to define their operations and maintenance requirements for a new Communications Based Train Control (CBTC) system. This role will include collaborating with agency stakeholders and the signaling supplier industry on best practices to define the new system and procure services. The candidate should have experience in designing and/or implementing Communications Based Train Control (CBTC) systems in a brownfield project. The candidate must be able to support projects remotely and travel as needed for key meetings with agency staff and Contractors. Responsibilities : - Meet with agency staff to identify operations, maintenance and safety goals and objectives for a new signaling system - Develop Contract Documents and requirements for a new signaling system - Interface with Contractors to discuss feasibility of solutions to meet agency requirements - Develop strategy papers that will inform agency decision makers - Support procurement of CBTC Contractors through development of procurement strategies and proposal reviews - Prepare plans, strategies, and estimates. Essential Skills needed : - A strategic thinker with good organizational and time management skills. - Excellent research and analytical skills with the ability to perform analysis and adapt in a fast-paced environment. - Knowledge of rail industry standards, practices and regulations is desirable. - Experience in rail transit signaling and train control systems (desirable) or experience in projects in other industries. - Ability to read, understand and interpret the logical sequencing of work within project schedules. - Experience in preparing and implementing plans, strategies, and assessments to large businesses. - Familiar with international and multicultural projects (desirable). - Good written and verbal communication skills in English. - Able to communicate and engage with key Stakeholders on a regular basis to ensure client needs are met and understood by the project. - Experience in facilitating and presenting to large audiences (roadshows, all-hands briefings, lunch and learn speaking events etc.) Requirements : - 4-year degree in Engineering (or related field) and 15 years or more of related field engineering experience, ideally in the rail sector, and a broad general engineering background, and previous supervisory experience in a project engineering role is required. - Professional registration ( PE) is desirable. - Experience in project management, change management, maintenance management, asset management, and / or operations management consulting is essential.
