Senior Virtualization Engineer
Solera, Inc.
• Maintain vCenters, ESXi, and vRealize suite of products. • Design and implement new hypervisor solutions based on technical requirements. • Manage host maintenance, monitor systems, and respond to alerts. • Follow Change Control procedures for patching, infrastructure changes, and day-to-day operations. • Create and update documentation for internal processes and procedures. • Complete daily operational tasks, including change requests and troubleshooting tickets. • Collaborate on Global Solera projects and support cross-functional teams. • Mentor junior members in the team and create project plans for internal projects.
Job Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in computer science, Information Technology, Business Administration, or equivalent experience.
- Minimum of 8+ years in systems administration, engineering, or DevOps, with a primary focus on virtualization.
- 3+ years of technical leadership experience across multi-disciplinary agile teams.
- Comprehensive knowledge of VMware technologies, including vCenter, ESXi, vSphere, vSAN, vRA, vROps, and experience in architecting and supporting these systems.
- Proficient in large-scale ESXi deployments with Auto-Deploy or similar technologies.
- Advanced knowledge in alternate hypervisors like HyperV, Openshift Virtualization or any kvm based hypervisors.
- Strong Automation and Scripting Proficiency: Proficient in scripting and automation (e.g., PowerShell, Python, Terraform) to streamline and enhance infrastructure management.
- Strong troubleshooting abilities in system and infrastructure contexts.
- Ability to lead and support troubleshooting efforts with other engineers.
- Proficient project management and organizational skills.
- Effective verbal and written communication skills.
- Capable of working independently and collaboratively within a team.
- Adaptable and motivated to complete tasks efficiently.
