Chief Operating Officer – Marketing, PR Agency

IBMC

• Own daily operations across PR, media, content, client delivery, and internal support teams. • Translate leadership direction into clear operational plans, timelines, and execution priorities. • Ensure work is delivered on time, within scope, and at expected quality standards. • Act as the escalation point for operational issues and delivery risks. • Oversee project planning, prioritization, and execution across all client accounts. • Support or directly manage key client relationships when needed. • Ensure smooth handover from sales to delivery teams. • Manage risks, dependencies, and changes in scope. • Review existing workflows and identify inefficiencies or execution gaps. • Design, document, and implement practical SOPs for core functions: Client onboarding, PR execution, media placement, and reporting, Content and media production workflows, Account management, and client communications, Internal admin, finance, and HR coordination. • Ensure SOP adoption and consistent execution across teams. • Implement and manage operational tools (project management, CRM, reporting, collaboration). • Improve visibility through simple dashboards and tracking systems. • Drive light automation to reduce manual work and improve turnaround time. • Ensure teams use tools correctly and consistently. • Work closely with the CRO to align sales promises with operational capacity. • Ensure smooth client handover from sales to delivery. • Provide feedback on pricing, scope, and capacity constraints. • Track team utilization, workload, and delivery capacity. • Support finance with invoicing coordination, cost tracking, and operational budgeting inputs. • Identify cost leaks and inefficiencies within operations. • Manage team leads and key individual contributors across operations and delivery. • Set clear expectations, priorities, and accountability. • Support hiring, onboarding, and performance management with HR. • Build a culture of ownership, discipline, and continuous improvement.

Job Requirements

  • Experience: 4–7 years of experience in operations, project management, or delivery leadership roles.
  • Industry Background: Proven experience in PR agencies, media companies, or digital service-based businesses.
  • Technical Skills: Strong hands-on experience building SOPs, improving workflows, and managing operational tools (CRM/PM software).
  • Leadership: Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills with a track record of managing multiple teams.
  • Problem Solving: Strong execution, decision-making skills, and the ability to work independently in a remote or hybrid setup.
  • Language: Professional-level English (spoken and written) for international coordination.

Role Description Join us to build a new venture eliminating off-target toxicity from agrochemicals by scaling next generation herbicides and weed control. We’re seeking an experienced entrepreneur to found and spin out a company with us focused on targeted, durable weed control without off-target ecological or human health impacts. The role is full-time, remote initially until venture incorporation and spin-out (circa end of Q4 2026), location TBD. We are looking for future Founders: entrepreneurially-minded individuals with deep technical and commercial domain expertise, who are eager to solve urgent unmet challenges through venture building. This role offers a unique opportunity to work at the forefront of agtech, leading a company solving challenges in off-target toxicity from herbicides. You will join DSV’s venture creation programme as a Co-founder-in-Residence and work closely with the DSV and Grantham Foundation teams to spin out the new company. During the programme you will refine, improve and complement existing scoping work on: - The technical thesis for weed control that is scalable, durable and effective without off-target effects (neglect and technical tractability); - Commercial neglect (IP strategy, differentiation, competition); - Value proposition (market, value capture, techno-economics); - Regulatory strategy & positioning; - Fundraising strategy & pitching; - Optimising company strategy for the most rapid and derisked path to Series A. Preparation for Investment Committee (IC) will involve fulfilling our investment criteria, recruiting advisory and co-founding team members, and parallel fundraising for additional expansion funds. Assuming success at IC, you will receive pre-seed investment from DSV and Grantham Foundation, and spinout the company by the end of Q4 2026.
