The role - We’re looking for our first Software Engineer in Test who thinks about quality as a system, not a phase at the end of development. - You’ll work closely with product and engineering to reduce overall bugginess in a fast-moving application where dozens of features and fixes ship daily. - This is not a traditional QA role — you’ll help define what “good” looks like, build guardrails that scale, and make quality visible across the team. You won’t be reviewing and QA’ing every pull request, but instead, adding a layer of QA and creating Production monitoring tools to help fix + prevent issues from ever reaching our customers. You’ll work closely with a passionate team of engineers, infrastructure specialists, and customer success partners who collaborate tightly, share knowledge openly, and are united by a mission to deliver audio reliably to millions of listeners worldwide. In this role, you will be at the heart of the technology powering Bauer’s audio streaming ecosystem, helping to evolve platforms that broadcasters depend on every day. Qualifications - Professional experience with PHP & Laravel, plus strong knowledge of SOLID/DRY principles. - Experience working in a stakeholder‑led environment with strong communication skills. - Strong understanding of database design, indexing, and performance optimisation. - Practical experience operating AWS production workloads (e.g., EC2, S3, IAM, CloudWatch, EKS, SQS). - Solid understanding of Docker and containerisation across development and production. - Experience in media, broadcast, or streaming technologies (audio/video pipelines, encoding, metadata, Liquidsoap, Icecast, FFmpeg, or similar). - A pragmatic, delivery‑focused approach to problem solving. - Experience with unit testing, TDD, and functional testing. - Comfortable working with additional languages or lower‑level tooling when needed (e.g., Bash, Python).
