Senior Platform Development Engineer – Fixed Term
Best Buy Canada
• Design and implement scalable self-service capabilities across our engineering platforms • Improve developer experience by simplifying onboarding, deployment, and operational workflows • Translate architectural designs into production-grade implementations • Drive platform reliability, security, and performance improvements aligned with industry best practices • Maintain our platforms using Infrastructure as Code (IaC) and configuration management • Collaborate with Tech Leads, developers, and operations teams to ensure platform capabilities meet evolving business needs • Participate in support rotation, including occasional after-hours response, to maintain platform stability • Maintain clear technical documentation to support knowledge sharing and platform adoption • Mentor and guide junior engineers, raising overall engineering standards.
Job Requirements
- 5+ years in platform engineering, DevOps, or infrastructure automation
- 3+ years with cloud providers (Azure preferred)
- 2+ years building and managing platforms using Infrastructure as Code (Terraform, Ansible, etc.) and container platforms (Kubernetes, OpenShift, Docker)
- Experience managing CI/CD platforms and tools (GitHub, GitHub Actions, ArgoCD, Jenkins, ACR, Artifactory, Packer)
- Experience supporting Kubernetes or cloud-native applications (microservices, containers)
- Strong expertise in cloud identity, networking, and security (e.g., Entra ID)
- Strong scripting/automation skills (Python, Bash, PowerShell, HCL, etc.)
- Deep understanding of CI/CD pipelines, GitOps, and cloud-native operations
- Solid grasp of platform reliability, observability, and operational excellence principles
- Bachelor’s in CS, Engineering, or equivalent practical experience.
