Role Description Our client is a leading national supplier of joists and metal deck packages, operating across all 50 states. They specialize in providing full-scope material packages, primarily working from structural drawings provided by fabricators. As they scale their estimating department, they are looking for a highly skilled Structural Steel Estimator to join the team. This role is a critical link between engineering and sales, ensuring that material takeoffs for open-web steel bar joists and corrugated metal decking are precise, competitive, and technically sound. This is a high-level technical role that requires more than just counting beams. You will be responsible for a deep-dive analysis of structural drawings to determine exact material requirements. You will work closely with the Head of Estimating to transition takeoff operations to a real-time, collaborative timezone. Location: Remote (Offshore) Priority: LATAM or South Africa Hours: Full-time, aligned with US business hours (EST/CST) Key Responsibilities - Analyze structural drawings and contract documents to determine precise material requirements - Conduct takeoffs using Bluebeam for: - Corrugated metal decking (measured in square feet), including accessories - Steel joists and trusses (measured by piece count) - Prepare detailed Scope of Work documents, including exclusions, clarifications, and conditions - Collaborate with internal teams to resolve discrepancies or technical questions - Input takeoffs into design and pricing software and maintain accurate records of bid documents and revisions - Ensure all estimates are itemized, accurate, and verified before submission Qualifications - Proven experience as a Construction Estimator within Structural Steel (Joist & Metal Deck) - Mastery of Bluebeam Revu required - Experience with design and pricing software is a plus - Background in Civil Engineering or Construction Management preferred - Ability to work consistent US hours (EST/CST) Who You Are - Expert in reading structural blueprints, especially open-web steel bar joist systems - Advanced user of Bluebeam for takeoffs and markups - Strong English communication skills for technical discussions with a US-based team - Highly organized with strong attention to detail in documentation and record-keeping
