Job Description
Development Manager, Climate TRACE
WattTime
Accepting applications until April 10th at 5pm E.T. About Climate TRACE Climate TRACE is a coalition of over 150 non-profits, tech companies, universities, and individual researchers pooling their expertise in AI, remote sensing, and emissions data to collectively build an open, highly advanced, comprehensive global greenhouse gas measurement system. Each month, Climate TRACE analyzes the emissions of over 745 million emitting assets worldwide. Over the last five years, the project has grown rapidly from a few scrappy volunteers to now the most widely used source of emissions data worldwide. WattTime is the environmental nonprofit that serves as the secretariat of Climate TRACE. We specialize in developing and helping others develop very specific advances in emissions data that make it possible to reduce more emissions, faster, cheaper, and more reliably. Outside of Climate TRACE we are best known for developing techniques used by over 1 billion devices (solar panels, EVs, iPhones, smart thermostats, etc) to increase their impact. The ideal candidate is experienced with nonprofit fundraising (environmental nonprofit experience preferred) and can dive in immediately to writing call sheets, proposals, cultivating long-term donor relationships, updating pipelines, evolving strategy based on data, making pitches, and supporting others to do so. This role requires strong execution ability, high productivity, strong collaboration, and strategic thinking. Responsibilities Generate Warm Leads - Identify and qualify a pipeline of suitable prospects - Support current Climate TRACE fundraising team in preparing for and pitching HNWI and foundations - In some cases, directly pitch prospects yourself, either end-to-end or paving the way for a high-level meeting - Arrange donor roundtables or other events that generate additional engagement Convert Warm Leads to Major Gifts - After successful pitches, work with prospects’ staff and your Climate TRACE colleagues to structure gifts, write grant proposals, conduct diligence, and generally close major gifts - Facilitate, support, and/or own all steps of a gift from lead to close Generate Materials - Update and enhance Climate TRACE prospectus, roadmaps, and other donor materials Maintain Strong Donor Relations - Maintain, steward, and expand strong relationships with foundations and HNWI staff - With support from Climate TRACE program and operations leads, write grant reports - Oversee donor communications and engagement strategy Tracking - Oversee and manage data entry, data quality, and overall fundraising pipeline within necessary systems Qualifications Above all, the person hired for this position should be fiercely committed to driving positive impact in the world.
