Transmission Operations – Field Technician

Role Description This position has the ability to report remotely out of Southwestern Ohio with travel to Columbus or sites as needed. Position Title: Transmission Operations – Field Technician (Southwestern Ohio) Reports To: Director Transmission Operations FLSA Status: Non-exempt Basic Functions: - Assist with overseeing AMP Transmission (AMPT) system operations, maintenance, and field services. - Execute and implement processes, procedures, and documentation to ensure AMPT facilities are maintained and operated within regulatory compliance and utilizing good utility practices. - Provide operational and maintenance guidance on AMPT owned assets, construction projects, and potential new projects in planning. Essential Functions: - Participate in field operation and maintenance related activities including assisting in the development of requests for proposals, vetting, selecting, and managing third-party companies and contractors to perform field services. Provide technical direction to companies and contractors. - Assist in managing AMPT-Member O&M agreements including preparation of annual budgets, payment schedules, spare part inventories, and opportunities for mutual services. - Assist in implementing and managing an asset management program and emergency preparedness program. - Assist in developing and maintaining maintenance files and databases. - Collaborate with Transmission Planning and Transmission Engineering to identify and implement capital projects to improve operational performance. - Assist in implementing equipment ratings and guidelines for electric equipment to ensure proper operation, maintenance, and compliance with applicable regulations. - Assist in providing operation and maintenance direction, support, and guidance on AMPT owned assets, potential new projects in planning, and construction projects. - Assist in the development of the annual transmission operation and maintenance budget. - Work in close collaboration with transmission engineering, transmission planning, transmission project management, and other departments and stakeholders to successfully accomplish tasks. - Perform other duties as assigned. Qualifications - A two-year degree in engineering or related field is preferred. Other combinations of skills and experience may be accepted upon review. - A minimum of 5 years of experience in electric transmission field services, maintenance, or operations is preferred. Experience in similar fields may be considered. - Preferred knowledge of North American Electric Reliability Corporation (NERC) Reliability standards, processes, and compliance obligations. - Experience with Maximo computerized maintenance management system software applications preferred. - Must be deadline/critical path oriented and have a strong ability to prioritize. - Strong verbal, written, and computer skills are essential; must demonstrate previous success in building effective business relationships. Must have a positive attitude and work well within a small team. - Must successfully complete FERC Standards of Conduct compliance training within 30 days of employment. - Must be willing to travel to assigned project locations throughout the AMP Transmission footprint. - Residence in southwestern Ohio is desired.

Role Description The role holder will be required to safely carry out servicing, repairs and maintenance works and produce the necessary reports that meet the current requirements of external accrediting bodies. - Perform servicing of fire pumps systems in line with specified scope of works, ensuring servicing is completed fully and to a high standard of quality. - Provide detailed and accurate servicing reports, providing an assessment of any remedial requirements to ensure the integrity of the fire systems for our clients. - Perform any repair work as required to fire pumps systems, in line with the scope of works set out and agreed with the client. - Travel outside of area where needed, to service our client needs. - Perform monthly stock checks on your van, to provide timely stock sheets to our Stores. - Perform monthly PPE and Vehicle checks, to provide timely forms to our safety team. - Attend out of hours call outs as and when needed. - Act with integrity and professionalism in all communications with clients and colleagues. - Keep abreast of changes and amendments of standards, regulations, and best practice within the industry. - Use and maintain your vehicles and tools in line with company policy. - Always adhere to Company Health & Safety Policies and Procedures.
