Full TimeRemoteTeam 51-200

EqualPride is seeking an experienced Video Lead to drive the video strategy, growth, and creative direction across our portfolio of LGBTQ+ brands — including The Advocate and Out Magazine. This is a rare opportunity to build strategy and direction from the ground up, and shape how queer stories are told in video across YouTube and social platforms. Reporting to the Audience Director, the Video Lead will own EqualPride's end-to-end video programming strategy while managing a Video Editor and Producer and remaining hands-on with production and editing themselves. The ideal candidate is a player-coach: equally fluent in YouTube growth strategy and the craft of editing — someone who can analyze channel health in the morning, give sharp editorial feedback on a cut at lunch, and finish their own edit by end of day. Key Responsibilities Strategy & Leadership - Develop and implement a cohesive, data-informed video programming strategy across YouTube and social platforms that aligns with EqualPride's audience growth and revenue goals - Serve as EqualPride's internal YouTube expert, providing strategic guidance on best practices, new features, algorithm shifts, and competitive trends to editorial and brand leadership - Partner cross-functionally with editorial, audience development, and brand partnerships to set programming priorities that serve both audience and business needs - Manage, mentor, and collaborate daily with EqualPride's Video Editor and Producer, setting clear priorities and maintaining a healthy, organized production schedule Programming & Development - Develop and pitch new video concepts, franchises, and series for YouTube and social platforms, with a focus on formats that drive sustainable audience growth - Build and maintain a programming slate with consistent, balanced content cadence across all brands and channels - Analyze the health of existing franchises and evaluate new pilots, using data and audience insights to inform investment decisions - Identify and develop talent relationships to support EqualPride's creator and social video network Editing & Production - Edit and produce a portion of EqualPride's video output directly, with particular ownership over flagship YouTube content and high-priority social formats - Shape narrative, tone, pacing, and emotional impact across cuts — ensuring content reflects each brand's distinct voice and connects authentically with queer audiences - Occasionally support on-location shoots, including camera operation, light direction, and asset oversight - Stay plugged into emerging formats, platform shifts, and cultural moments to keep content fresh and competitive Requirements - 5+ years of experience in video editing, production, and/or programming strategy at a digital media publisher or newsroom - Proven track record of growing YouTube channels through strategic programming and hands-on content execution - Expert-level proficiency in Adobe Premiere Pro; familiarity with DaVinci Resolve, After Effects, or motion design tools is a strong plus - Strong creative instincts and editorial sensibility, with the ability to both execute and give clear, constructive feedback on others' work - Proficiency with YouTube Analytics and familiarity with third-party analytics tools (e.g., Tubular) - Experience managing or mentoring creative team members - Exceptional communication and cross-functional collaboration skills - Self-starter who thrives managing multiple projects and priorities simultaneously - Deep familiarity with LGBTQ+ culture, media, and online discourse About equalpride equalpride is the leading LGBTQ+ media company in the United States, reaching millions of readers through its iconic brands, including Out, The Advocate, and PRIDE.com.
