Database Administrator

• Install, configure, and maintain SQL Server, MySQL, PostgreSQL, and other database engines (on-premise or cloud). • Perform routine database health checks, maintenance, patching, and upgrades. • Manage backup and recovery strategies, ensuring RPO/RTO compliance. • Monitor end-to-end database performance (CPU, memory, I/O, PLE, slow queries, locking, indexing). • Conduct query optimization, indexing strategies, and database tuning. • Analyze slow queries, performance bottlenecks, and long-running processes. • Manage and support HA/DR solutions such as SQL Server AlwaysOn Availability Groups, Replication, Log Shipping, MySQL Replication / InnoDB Cluster. • Ensure proper failover, redundancy, and disaster recovery plans. • Implement and maintain database access controls, least privilege, and role-based permissions. • Conduct security audits, patching, vulnerability remediation. • Ensure compliance with company policies and regulatory requirements. • Develop automation for routine DBA tasks. • Maintain monitoring alerts, jobs, and automated maintenance tasks. • Troubleshoot production issues, service outages, and performance incidents. • Provide root cause analysis (RCA) and recommendations to prevent recurrence. • Participate in on-call rotation if required. • Work closely with SRE, DevOps, Developers, and Product Teams on database requirements. • Support deployments, data patch requests, schema migrations, and release activities. • Maintain accurate documentation (DB standards, architecture diagrams, SOPs, KT materials).

Job Requirements

  • 5–10 years of experience in a similar DBA role.
  • Strong hands-on experience in SQL Server, MySQL, and PostgreSQL administration.
  • Solid understanding of: Database internals, Query execution plans, Indexing strategies, Transaction management, Replication and HA/DR topologies.
  • Experience with cloud database platforms (AWS RDS/Aurora, Azure SQL, or GCP Cloud SQL) is a plus.
  • Knowledge in monitoring tools such as SolarWinds DPA, PMM, pgAdmin, Grafana, CloudWatch, etc.
  • Familiarity with Linux and Windows Server environments.
  • Exposure to NoSQL databases (MongoDB, Redis, Cassandra) is an advantage.
  • Experience in automation, DevOps, or SRE-related tasks is a plus.
  • Experience supporting large-scale, mission-critical systems.

About the Position We are seeking a Database Site Reliability Engineer who demonstrates a strong skill set in managing PostgreSQL. In this role, you will own the reliability and operability of our PostgreSQL services supporting a growing 24x7 SaaS platform, with an emphasis on availability, performance, observability, incident response, and automation. You will partner with cross-functional teams—including developers, operations, and infrastructure—to ensure that our database services run smoothly and efficiently. What You'll Do - Responsible to design, implement, and maintain high-availability, high throughput, data and compute intensive, critical database systems running PostgreSQL which supports a growing 24x7 SaaS platform. - Define and improve database service reliability through monitoring/alerting, SLO-oriented metrics, and operational readiness. - Participate in and help drive incident response, root cause analysis, and post-incident corrective actions for database-related production events. - Partner with other technical leaders to ensure all newly introduced systems are supportable and maintainable by both development and operations. - Provides escalated technical guidance and support to other technology teams throughout the organization - Provides on-call coverage for production support and other duties as required. - Accountable for complying with HIPAA security policies within the database platform - Ensure all solutions and operational activities adhere to the security and operating policies established by the organization - Own and continuously improve our Datadog database observability by building actionable dashboards, alerts, and service-level views using an observability stack (e.g., Prometheus, Grafana, New Relic, or equivalent). Familiarity with PGAnalyze or Percona a plus. - Automate system maintenance tasks using Bash, Powershell, Python, or Ansible. Manage infrastructure as code (IaC) writing Ansible playbooks.
