Engineering Director
Docplanner
• Lead through code (≈75% hands-on) • Solve real patient engagement and continuity challenges through hands-on coding • Use cutting-edge AI development tools (e.g. GitHub Copilot, ChatGPT, Claude) to demonstrate new possibilities • Prototype and build solutions that showcase AI-enabled development practices in patient-facing products • Experiment with and establish AI-powered development workflows, then teach others through direct, hands-on demonstration • Drive Transformation & Technical Leadership (≈25%) • Pioneer new AI-enabled development cycles and practices within the Patient Engagement area • Partner closely with Product and Design to solve real patient problems
Job Requirements
- Solid hands-on experience using AI to accelerate software development
- Strong judgment on when to rely on AI versus traditional approaches
- Experience in complex software delivery, including regulated environments where quality and reliability matter
- Ability to inspire others to follow your technical lead by delivering results
- Thrives in ambiguity and enjoys pioneering new innovations
- Enjoy teaching and mentoring, through pairing, retrospectives, or helping others level up
- Focus on meaningful user outcomes rather than the size of the company you worked for before.

• Lead and grow an AI engineering group (30+ engineers) - backend, ML, DevOps, and QA profiles. • Define architecture standards for LLM-based products: RAG pipelines, agent orchestration, tool use, evaluation frameworks. • Set the bar for production-grade AI systems: observability, cost control, latency, safety, and reliability. • Oversee the full lifecycle of AI systems - from prototype to production and beyond. • Drive the adoption of AI-powered developer tooling across Netguru teams (Cursor, Copilot, Claude, prompt engineering workflows). • Build playbooks, run workshops, and lead by example - engineers should feel empowered, not replaced. • Measure adoption impact using DORA/SPACE metrics and human signals (developer experience, cycle time, rework). • Build a library of reusable AI practices scalable across 100+ projects. • Be the technical voice in deal reviews for AI/GenAI opportunities. • Provide fast, reliable architecture options, risk assessments, and effort estimates - even for unknown domains. • Challenge unrealistic scopes and propose alternatives that win trust and close deals. • Build Netguru's AI/GenAI competency roadmap - stacks, reference architectures, integration patterns. • Grow Tech Leads who can own AI workstreams independently. • Build communities of practice around LLM engineering, prompt engineering, and AI evaluation. • Monitor team health: velocity, code quality, morale, rework rate, CI/CD, test coverage.
