Member of Technical Staff Location: San Francisco, CA, New York City, NY, or Birmingham, AL (remote available) Type: Full-time Reports to: CTO The role As a Member of Technical Staff, you'll work on whatever the most important technical problem is — backend, frontend, infrastructure, APIs, data, or something we haven't thought of yet. The title is intentionally broad because the work is too. You'll take real ownership of our core product, help scale the APIs developers use to integrate with Linq, and work across teams wherever your skills are needed most. This role is for someone who is curious about everything, moves fast, and doesn't need to be pointed at the problem. Position Summary The Lead Software Engineer for MinuteClinic will play a pivotal role in driving the next generation of clinical and patient-facing technology for millions of users. You will lead the design, development, and delivery of modern, scalable software solutions as we re-platform our entire technology stack and embrace AI-enabled engineering practices. In this role, you will set technical direction, mentor engineers, and collaborate closely with product, design, and architecture partners to deliver solutions that improve patient care and empower clinical staff. Required Qualifications - 6+ years of professional software engineering experience, including 2+ years in a technical leadership or mentoring role. - Proven experience designing and building backend services, APIs, or distributed systems in a cloud environment (Azure, AWS, GCP). - Strong understanding of architectural principles, system design, and engineering best practices. - Demonstrated ability to take ownership, drive initiatives from concept to delivery, and remove ambiguity through action. - Commitment to continuous learning—staying current with modern engineering tools, patterns, and AI-assisted development practices. - Hands-on experience with modern programming languages such as Java, Kotlin, Python, C#, or TypeScript. - Experience building and maintaining CI/CD pipelines, automated test frameworks, and high-quality observability solutions. - Strong communication skills and the ability to collaborate effectively with cross-functional partners. Pay Range The typical pay range for this role is: $106,605.00 - $284,280.00 This pay range represents the base hourly rate or base annual full-time salary for all positions in the job grade within which this position falls. The actual base salary offer will depend on a variety of factors including experience, education, geography and other relevant factors. This position is eligible for a CVS Health bonus, commission or short-term incentive program in addition to the base pay range listed above.
