Job Classification: Operations - Insurance Operations The Senior Underwriting Support Associate plays a critical role within Prudential’s Group Insurance underwriting organization, supporting the Stop Loss business. This position is responsible for coordinating the completion and communication of underwriting decisions and materials to Account Management for release to group policyholders. The role ensures underwriting renewals and proposals are delivered accurately, on time, and in compliance with contractual obligations and state regulatory requirements. In this role, you will analyze reports and data, prepare underwriting files, and update underwriting systems to support effective risk assessment and decision‑making. You will also serve as a key operational partner to underwriters, account managers, and cross‑functional stakeholders, helping to streamline workflows, surface risk insights, and support continuous improvement initiatives across underwriting operations. This position offers flexibility to work virtually, or in a hybrid capacity for candidates located near a Prudential office. Key Responsibilities - Prepare underwriting files, including preliminary manual and experience rate calculations, using group census data and claims information received through broker RFPs - Serve as the primary point of contact for processing groups through underwriting tools, including Gradient AI and RGA Medscore - Build, maintain, and enhance underwriting reports to track key performance metrics, including high‑cost claimants and emerging risk trends - Respond to requests from underwriters, account managers, and cross‑functional partners in a timely and accurate manner - Identify and escalate data issues, system limitations, or risk concerns to underwriters as appropriate - Support special projects and departmental initiatives, including testing and validation of new underwriting systems and processes - Actively develop underwriting competencies and business acumen through hands‑on support of underwriting decisions, positioning the role as a career progression step toward an Underwriter position Required Skills & Competencies - Proficiency in Microsoft Excel (data review, basic formulas, and reporting) and Microsoft Word - Foundational understanding of insurance concepts, with an interest in underwriting and risk assessment - Strong attention to detail and investigative mindset when reviewing data and claims information - Demonstrated initiative, accountability, and ability to manage multiple priorities - Clear and proactive communicator, comfortable working with both technical and non‑technical stakeholders Experience - Prior experience in the insurance or reinsurance industry preferred - Experience in underwriting support, analytics, or related operational roles preferred Education - Bachelor’s degree preferred, or equivalent combination of education and relevant work experience #LI-MG1 What we offer you: Prudential is required by state specific laws to include the salary range for this role when hiring a resident in applicable locations. The salary range for this role is from $45,700.00 to $75,500.00.
