Join our growing engineering firm as a Structural/Building Inspection Engineer! Criterium-Twin Cities Engineers is a specialist consulting firm based in Edina, MN focusing on residential and commercial structural inspections and design. Office Location: Edina, Minnesota POSITION SUMMARY The position will primarily consist of performing inspections of existing residential and commercial buildings and preparing written reports. Some projects will include light structural designs to include wood, steel and concrete design. Engineers help build long-term client relationships and ensure the projects meet Criterium’s quality standards and fulfill the project scope. Communication skills are critical to the success of this position as there is extensive interaction with clients and colleagues. As a member of our staff, the engineers will apply their knowledge and develop new skills while working on a variety of challenging projects. ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS - Perform inspections of residential and commercial buildings and prepare written reports. - Develop and sustain a rapport with assigned clients by exploring specific needs, anticipating new opportunities, and providing clear and responsive communication about their projects. - Field requests for proposals from new and existing clients to our operations team. - Collaborate with the operations team to develop proposals as needed, including establishment of project scope, fees and budget estimates. - Monitor workload as needed to meet deliverable expectations. - Conduct monthly analysis of assigned projects to ensure billable time is captured accurately in collaboration with operations team for monthly invoicing. - Support team initiatives as needed. EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE AND KNOWLEDGE QUALIFICATIONS - Bachelor’s degree in engineering (Civil, Structural, Mechanical). - Professional Engineer (P.E.) in Minnesota. - Minimum of 5-10 years of practical experience. - Knowledge of residential and commercial building codes and methods. - Knowledge of residential and light commercial structural design. - Knowledge of retaining walls and/or design is a plus. WORKING CONDITIONS/PHYSICAL DEMANDS - Frequent travel around the 13-county Twin Cities region with occasional travel to other areas in the upper Midwest to support client and company needs. - Exposure to daily outside elements will be necessary to perform work at site location. - Use of personal vehicle will be required (with mileage reimbursement). - Regularly required to sit, stand, reach, bend, and move about on site. - Able to carry up to 50 lbs., climb ladders, crawl in confined spaces, and walk on sloped roofs.
