POSITION SUMMARY We are currently seeking a Stress Engineer III. Under the direction of the Engineering manager, supervisor or director, this position will provide stress analysis input to the Engineering Integrated Product Team (IPT) to ensure successful product development from conceptual layout stage through release of detail engineering and documentation. This position will coordinate with IPT to identify all design requirements and optimize load paths. The Stress Engineer III will develop and validate efficient stress analysis methodology using classical stress analysis methods and/or computer aided engineering solutions such as finite element models (FEM). Will often direct the work of other Stress Engineers and act as the Project lead. ESSENTIAL JOB RESPONSIBILITIES The Stress Engineer III will rely on extensive experience and judgment to plan and accomplish goals while performing a variety of complex tasks in the following areas: - Coordinate with customer to identify all design and stress requirements for a particular product - Evaluate requirements and structural complexity to determine the most effective stress analysis method. - Work with design during conceptual phase to optimize load paths. - Work with IPT throughout joint definition phase to optimize structure for weight, cost, and producbility while maintaining required strength and durability. Continue to optimize structure during release of detailed engineering. - Develop and validate internal loads using classical and finite element (FEM) approaches. - Provide detailed stress analysis of metal and composite structures by classical hand stress calculations and FEM analysis utilizing software such as NASTRAN/PATRAN. - Analyze ability of product to withstand stress imposed by conditions such as temperature, loads, motion, and vibration. - Provide fatigue and damage tolerance analysis as required. - Validate design for optimal material selection and corrosion prevention. - Support production by resolving manufacturing issues including disposition of rejection tags. - Provide fleet support by developing and substantiating repairs. - Direct preparation of final stress analysis reports to substantiate that the design satisfies all relevant EASA or FAA regulations and customer requirements. - Assist in preparation of test plans, provide technical support during testing, analyze test results and document conclusions. - Provide technical leadership and on-the-job training to team of assigned engineers to enhance skill development of junior engineers. - Coordinate all aspects of team activity to maximize productivity and meet schedule and cost targets. - Conduct frequent coordination with customer for all stress related issues, typically attending weekly customer meetings. Track status of action items and deliverables to and from customer. Prepare and present stress data for design reviews and other technical meetings with customer. - Directs work of others and acts as lead. - Performs other duties as required, such as bid and proposal support. • Develop design specifications for new machine learning and linear algebra kernels and mapping to the Cerebras WSE System using various parallel programming algorithms. • Develop and debug kernel library of highly optimized low level assembly instruction and C-like domain specific language routines to implement algorithms targeting the Cerebras hardware system. • Develop and debug high-performance kernel routines in low-level assembly and a custom C-like (CSL) language, implementing algorithms optimized for the Cerebras hardware system. • Using mathematical models and analysis to measure the software performance and inform design decisions. • Develop and integrate unit and system testing methodologies to verify correct functionality and performance of kernel libraries. • Study emerging trends in Machine Learning applications and help evolve Kernel library architecture to address computational challenges of the start-of-the-art Neural Networks. • Interact with chip and system architects to optimize instruction sets, microarchitecture, and IO of next generation systems.
