Online Mandarin Instructor

• Teach engaging one-on-one online lessons using Microsoft Teams. • Create a supportive and personalized learning environment that promotes student engagement, confidence, and success. • Assign and provide timely feedback on class performance, homework assignments, and projects. • Monitor student progress and maintain accurate grades and academic records. • Communicate professionally and proactively with students, families, and LanguageBird staff as needed. • Demonstrate reliability, professionalism, and respect in all interactions. • Participate in required training.
Job Requirements
- 1–2+ years of experience teaching Mandarin (online and/or in a school setting).
- Native-like proficiency in Mandarin.
- Bachelor's degree required.
- Experience working with middle school and/or high school students preferred.
- Familiarity with educational technology and Microsoft Office.
- Strong communication, organizational, and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to work independently in a remote environment while meeting deadlines and expectations.
- Evening availability in U.S. time zones (PST preferred).

• Instructors will join SEO’s community of passionate educators to implement a rigorous college-prep curriculum for motivated and driven high school Scholars. • Using our original curriculum and a student-centered approach to teaching and learning, instructors play an integral part in supporting our Scholars’ journey to a competitive college and beyond. • In addition, instructors promote depth of understanding and skill acquisition by serving as a coach and facilitator of learning. • SEO North Carolina is a bichronous program for Scholars with lesson instruction held 100% online, facilitated through Zoom. • Instructors will be placed depending on their self-reported proficiency and demo lesson.
• Prepare for your lessons by going through the provided material and deciding what should be taught and how it can be customized based on the student’s needs. • Create a risk-free environment where students can feel free to make mistakes and experiment with the language. • Document their progress after the lesson. • Your schedule is based solely on your availability. We ask that you commit to providing 15-20 hours per week.
