Job Requirements
- 5+ years of experience as a Software Engineer with deep data platform experience
- Strong programming skills in Python
- SQL skills and experience with analytical data modeling
- Hands-on experience with BigQuery (or a similar cloud data warehouse, with willingness to ramp)
- Production experience with dbt (dbt Labs), including building models yourself
- Experience building or improving the infrastructure around data workflows (reliability, observability, CI/CD, permissions, environments, deployment patterns)
- Strong software engineering fundamentals (testing, version control, code reviews)
- Experience with GCP services such as Cloud Storage, Cloud Functions, Cloud Run, Pub/Sub, Composer

Role Description As a Data Engineer, you are a technically rigorous and innovation-minded professional responsible for designing, building, and evolving the data pipelines, migration frameworks, and integration systems that power Aeries implementations. While the initial focus of this role centers on migrating customer data from legacy Student Information Systems into Aeries, the scope is intentionally built to expand. - Design and execute ETL processes using TSQL, Python, and related scripting tools to migrate millions of structured and unstructured records across concurrent district projects, ensuring accuracy and integrity at scale. - Work with diverse data formats including Excel, CSV, Access databases, and SQL Server or other relational database extracts. - Validate and reconcile migrated data to ensure integrity, completeness, and alignment with district requirements. - Partner with Implementation Coordinators to deliver conversions on schedule and within defined scope. - Identify repetitive or manual conversion tasks as candidates for AI-assisted automation and contribute to process redesign efforts. - Leverage AI tools to accelerate data mapping, anomaly detection, and quality validation workflows. - Establish and document process baselines to measure time saved and efficiency gained through AI and automation adoption. - Continuously evaluate conversion methodologies and contribute to the development of repeatable, scalable frameworks. - Document standardized approaches, scripting patterns, and conversion playbooks for cross-team use. - Manage multiple concurrent conversion projects, maintaining clear priorities and proactive communication with stakeholders. - Communicate conversion status, risks, and outcomes clearly to both technical and non-technical audiences.
