OUR VALUES - Data Management - Operational Excellence - Managed Service ABOUT THE ROLE The Tax & Compliance Manager is responsible for overseeing U.S. and Canada indirect tax compliance, business registrations, and various regulatory reporting requirements. This role partners cross-functionally with Finance, Legal, HR, and Sales to ensure accurate tax reporting, maintain compliance with state and federal requirements, and support strategic business initiatives. The role reports into the U.S. Controller. Where you will make an impact Sales & Use Tax (U.S.) - Own and manage all U.S. sales and use tax processes using Avalara, including filings, reconciliations, and payments - Ensure accurate tax determination and system configuration within Avalara - Monitor nexus thresholds and ensure timely registration in new jurisdictions - Lead audits related to sales and use tax and respond to state inquiries Business Registrations & Renewals - Manage all state and local business registrations, including new registrations as the company expands into new jurisdictions - Oversee annual business license renewals and ensure timely filings - Maintain compliance calendar for all entity-level requirements - SAM Registration for various business units Regulatory & Government Reporting - Prepare and respond to annual government questionnaires and compliance surveys - Coordinate data collection and ensure accuracy of submitted information - Act as primary point of contact for regulatory agencies as needed Audit & Compliance Support - Support the annual 401(k) audit by providing requested financial and payroll-related data - Partner with external auditors and internal stakeholders to ensure timely completion - Maintain documentation and support for audit readiness - Correspond with Doxim’s US Tax preparer providing support, manual filings for federal and state tax returns and coordination of payments Sales & Cross-Functional Support - Provide tax and financial data to Sales teams for RFPs and customer requests - Collaborate with Sales, Finance, and Legal to ensure accurate representations of tax and compliance matters in proposals - Assist in evaluating tax implications of new business opportunities WHAT YOU BRING - Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field (CPA or MST preferred) - 7+ years of experience in tax, with a focus on U.S. sales and use tax - Hands-on experience with Avalara (Avalara AvaTax strongly preferred) - Strong knowledge of multi-state tax compliance and nexus rules - Experience managing business registrations and state compliance requirements - Familiarity with audit support processes, including 401(k) audits - Excellent organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple deadlines Success Metrics - Forecast accuracy and pipeline visibility - Revenue growth, retention, and expansion rates - Sales cycle efficiency and deal velocity - Data accuracy and system adoption - Cross-functional satisfaction and operational effectiveness Preferred Experience - Experience in a high-growth or multi-state organization - Exposure to SaaS or technology industry environments - Experience with compliance tracking tools or ERP systems WHAT YOU GET - Work Environment That Suits You: Our opportunities come in all shapes and sizes; from fully remote, to in-office, to hybrid; across North America, South Africa, and Europe. - Benefits That Fit: As of Day 1 of employment, our flexible benefit options have you covered from healthcare to employer-matched retirement savings and everything in between. - Growth That Excites: We are passionate about nurturing talent from within so this won’t be just a job – it will be a journey. - Time Off That Recharges: Take the breaks you deserve with our generous PTO policy designed to help you rest, reset, and return at your best. - Refer & Reap the Rewards: Love working at Doxim? Job Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field (CPA or MST preferred).
- 7+ years of experience in tax, with a focus on U.S. sales and use tax.
- Hands-on experience with Avalara (Avalara AvaTax strongly preferred).

• Oversee and perform as necessary tax compliance activities, including: • Prepare and Review Federal and State income tax returns • Tax planning and projections • Tax research, resolution and correspondence • Manage client information requests and deliverables • Assist staff with technical questions and development • Ensure accurate, timely filing of federal, state, and local tax returns • Ensure quality standards are maintained • Assist in complex client tax planning and modeling • Manage client deliverables and time frames • Manage and mentor members of tax team to greater levels of effectiveness and engagement • Assist in new client onboarding • Find and implement opportunities for process improvement in tax procedures • Provide support on special tax projects and initiatives • Collaborate with Management • Assist with Firm Initiatives as necessary
