About the role We are starting a second channel and are looking for a creative and experienced Researcher to join our remote digital video team. The ideal candidate will have a passion for business, economics, geopolitics and finance and demonstrable general social science knowledge. You will be responsible for researching interesting and engaging topics for a new channel focussing on business, economics, geopolitics and finance and other social-science related subjects. You will also be responsible for identifying relevant experts, sourcing locations for site visits and helping to organise video shoots and fact check scripts. Key Responsibilities: - Research various topics related to business, economics, geopolitics and finance and propose video ideas that would appeal to a large Veritasium audience. - Keep abreast of issues that are of interest and importance to the Veritasium audience in these areas. - Find intriguing stories in the field that will engage a Veritasium audience and investigate down to original sources to tell the story in a way no other channel could do. - Source experts in the field to interview or collaborate with, either on-site or virtually. - Focus on accuracy and engaging storytelling, going extremely deep in research to trace stories back to academic papers or original sources. - Fact checking scripts to ensure accuracy to the highest standards. - Stay up to date on new research, scientific discoveries and advancements in the field and incorporate them into video scripts. Skills and Experience: - A bachelor's degree or higher in Economics, Business, Geo-politics and Finance or a related field of the social sciences. - Excellent research, reading comprehension, and fact-checking skills. - Strong project management skills, with the ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously and meet tight deadlines. - Excellent English written and verbal communication skills. - Ability to work well under pressure and meet tight deadlines. - Strong attention to detail and a commitment to producing high-quality content that meets the standards of the Veritasium YouTube channel. - Passionate about educating and inspiring others about social sciences.
