Job Description

Sourcing Team Manager

Cummins Inc.

• Lead sourcing teams in the application of sourcing strategies. • Define project scopes, mitigate risk, and identify savings opportunities for engineering, sourcing, and purchasing project teams. • Implement policies and track supplier and team performance to ensure that business goals are realized with respect to market-driven supply chains. • Manage sourcing strategies aimed at reducing cost, minimizing risk, and fostering innovation. • Set goals for and manage category strategy, commodity, and other project teams. • Promote alignment of purchasing strategy with business unit and supply chain goals. • Identify, plan, and implement continuous improvement opportunities within the supply chain. • Engage with Pre-M0 product and technology development functions to provide necessary technical support. • Identify and manage a relevant supply base of competitive and innovative companies. • Negotiate supplier contracts and manage relationships with suppliers. • Manage the supplier selection process and conduct complex supplier negotiations and contracts. • Establish and control product and service costs using functional tools and apply knowledge of Cost and Value Management. • Lead the analysis of key trends and issues in supply and total cost of ownership (TCO) for assigned products. • Minimize supplier risk by proactively mitigating risks using Supply Base Risk Management tools.

Job Requirements

  • Master's degree in Industrial Engineering, Supply Chain or Purchasing Management, or related field and 3 years of experience as a Purchasing, Sourcing or Supply Chain Analyst or Specialist, or related position.
  • Alternatively, a Bachelor’s degree in Industrial Engineering, Supply Chain or Purchasing Management, or related field and 5 years of experience as a Purchasing, Sourcing or Supply Chain Analyst or Specialist, or related position.
  • Experience to include: Application of sourcing strategies; Track supplier and team performance; Supply chain continuous improvement opportunities; Supply base identification; Supplier issue resolution; Supplier negotiations and contracts; Cost and Value Management; Total cost of ownership (TCO); Request For Quote process; Supply Base Risk Management; Procurement ethics.
