Senior Database Administrator

•Design, implement, and administer Microsoft SQL Server environments (on-premises and/or cloud) •Experience with On Prem SQL, Azure SQL and Managed Instance. •Strong experience work with large Terabyte databases. •Develop, optimize, and maintain complex T-SQL code including stored procedures, functions, views, triggers, and indexes •Perform advanced query tuning and execution plan analysis to improve performance •Monitor database health, capacity, and performance using native and third-party tools •Implement and manage High Availability and Disaster Recovery (HA/DR) solutions (Always On) •Expert level setup and administration of SQL clusters and always on Availability Groups. •Manage and implement Change Data Capture •Manage backup, restore, and recovery strategies; perform regular DR testing •Ensure database security through role-based access, encryption, auditing, and compliance controls •Troubleshoot and resolve production issues, root-cause analysis, and performance bottlenecks •Automate administrative tasks using T-SQL, SQL Agent jobs, and PowerShell •Collaborate with developers to enforce database design and coding best practices •Support application releases, schema changes, and data migrations with minimal downtime •Experience working with sensitive data and removing data from lower environments. •Strong experience working with Auditing solutions – SQL Audit, Extended Events or custom monitoring accounts and user access.
Job Requirements
- 10+ years of hands-on SQL Server DBA experience
- Senior-level T-SQL skills (query optimization, indexing strategies, complex joins)
- Deep understanding of SQL Server internals (locking, blocking, tempdb, memory, I/O)
- Strong experience with performance tuning and monitoring.
- Experience with SQL Server versions 2016 and above
- Solid knowledge of backup/restore, HA/DR, and capacity planning
- Experience supporting large, high-transaction databases
- Strong troubleshooting and analytical skills
- Excellent communication and documentation abilities
- Preferred Qualifications
- Experience with Azure SQL Database, Managed Instance, or SQL Server on Azure VM
- PowerShell scripting for SQL Server automation
- Exposure to DevOps / CI-CD pipelines for database deployments
- Experience with data migration and upgrade projects
