Lead Engineer, Stability Analysis (Remote Eligible, US)

Job Description Summary As a contributing member of the LOCA, Containment & Stability Analysis Team, you will perform plant thermal-hydraulic safety analysis with two-phase thermal hydraulic analysis techniques. You will support reload and design applications for Boiling Water Reactor (BWR) plants, including currently operating BWR plants as well as new plants (BWRX, Natrium) operating or planned worldwide. Job Description Roles and Responsibilities - Perform plant thermal hydraulic evaluations and analyses in the areas of ECCS LOCA, Containment, HELB, Fire Safe Shutdown, Annulus Pressurization Loads, and RIPD analyses. - General expertise in two-phase thermal hydraulic analysis techniques. - Take responsibility for fuel project activities including reload analyses, methods implementation, power uprates, new fuel introductions, and safety analysis support for emergent fuel issues. - Perform in cross-disciplinary settings, engaged with interfacing teams responsible for mechanical design, core design, licensing, systems design, or other affiliated organizations to find optimum customer solutions. - Prepare, document and present technical data to internal/external customers. - Provide technical mentoring to support team development and knowledge management, including procedure development and adherence. - Develop/deliver training course offerings in support of external commercial requests, as well as for internal audiences for knowledge management, and knowledge capture and transfer. - Lead team process improvements to drive speed and simplification. - Ensure work is performed with high quality in accordance with regulatory rules and regulations, customer requirements, and business quality assurance standards. Required Qualifications - Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering Discipline (Nuclear, Mechanical, Chemical, or similar) from an accredited college or university. - Minimum 1 year of experience in T-H Nuclear Plant Safety Analysis. Eligibility Requirements - The preferred work location for this role is at the GVH Headquarters in Wilmington, NC; but highly qualified (US based) remote candidates will be considered. - This role requires access to U.S. export-controlled information. If applicable, final offers will be contingent on ability to obtain authorization for access to U.S. export-controlled information from the U.S. Government. Desired Characteristics - Experience in ECCS LOCA, Containment, HELB, Fire Safe Shutdown, Annulus Pressurization Loads, and Reactor Internals Pressure Difference analyses. - M.S. Degree in Nuclear Engineering with experience in T/H modeling as applied to nuclear reactor systems. - Experience with BWR technology ECCS LOCA and Containment analysis to support applicable regulatory requirements. - Knowledge of reactor licensing requirements. - Experience with BWR/PWR T-H systems codes such as TRACG, RELAP & TRACE. - Experience in Best Estimate methodology development (e.g., TRACG LOCA). - Experience with Best Estimate and CSAU applications. - Programming experience such as C#, FORTRAN, or PYTHON. - Demonstrated high energy and the ability to energize others. - Honest and straightforward with a high level of personal integrity. - Work easily and communicate effectively within a team environment. - Seeks simple solutions to complex problems. - Detail oriented and accountable for completion of work and assignments. - Clearly and confidently communicates based on deep understanding. - Communicates in an open, candid, clear, and consistent manner. - Legacy of delivering on commitments; tenacious, with a proven track record of overcoming obstacles. The Company pays a geographic differential of 110%, 120% or 130% of salary in certain areas.
