Position Summary: KBR is seeking a Data Scientist to join our team in Dayton, OH. This position can be onsite or remote. KBR solves the toughest problems for our clients by extracting insight from data, delivering greater decision confidence, and improving processes. Our analysts are involved in a wide range of activities that range from understanding and transforming data, applying state of the art analytic techniques, and driving business impact through insight visualization. Our analysts are leveraged across of range of projects, such as artificial intelligence, advanced analytics, business process improvement, and application development. KBR analysts collaborate with Operations Research Analysts, Software Development Professionals, Data Architects, and Subject Matter Experts. Key Responsibilities: - Execute analytical experiments methodically to help solve various problems and make a true impact across various domains and industries - Research and apply state-of-the-art artificial intelligence methods and innovative statistical models - Identify relevant data sources and sets to mine for client business needs, and collect large structured and unstructured datasets and variables - Process, cleanse, and verify the integrity of data used for analysis - Develop code for predictive/prescriptive models with applied machine learning and other modeling techniques - Clearly document and present methodology, assumptions, and findings to stakeholders - Working with a wide range of stakeholders and functional teams to improve business outcomes - Deliver in a fast-paced, team-oriented work environment - Adapt quickly to changing needs across several core areas, including data wrangling, data exploration, data analysis, and data visualization - Articulate trade-offs between analytic techniques, recommend a course of action to clients, and provide effective updates on project outcome uncertainty to leadership. - Hands on experience performing analysis to solve problems - Discovering insights hidden in large data sets - Using a variety of advanced analysis methods, data tools, and models - Using/creating algorithms and/or creating/running simulations - Testing the effectiveness of different courses of action Work Environment: - Location: Onsite or Remote - Travel Requirements: Minimal - Working Hours: Standard Qualifications: Required: - Bachelor's degree in Data Science or related field - 5+ yrs experience in Data Science or Data analysis - Proficiency in programming languages like Python or R - Experience with AI frameworks like TensorFlow or PyTorch - Familiarity with Retrieval Augmented Generation (RAG) architectures and Large Language Models (LLM) - Developing data pipelines to support Analytics - Applying advanced analytics and machine learning techniques - Documenting and communicating results of analysis - Familiarity with SQL and BI Tools (Tableau, Qlik etc.) - Strong analytical and problem-solving skills - Hands on experience with driving analytic insights and workflow automation. - Must have the ability and motivation to self-teach in order to stay current with leading best practices in analytics. - Candidates must be able to tackle difficult problems, specifically working with artificial intelligence. - Expected to have data wrangling skills. - Ability to obtain a DoD Secret clearance Desired: - Master's degree in Data Science or related field - Solid understanding of applied machine learning methods and algorithms - Exploratory Data Analysis and Workflow Improvement - Applied statistics skills, such as distributions, statistical testing, regression, etc. - Data-oriented personality with proficiency in using data query languages such as SQL and ability to understand various data structures and common methods in data transformation - Ability to use data visualization to communicate value of insights - Designing and developing AI agents, implementing agentic workflows - Agentic AI frameworks such as LangGraph and standards such as Model Context Protocol (MCP) - Text mining and Natural Language Processing techniques such as Named Entity Recognition and Text Classification - Graph Analysis tools such as Neo4J and Cypher - Databricks, Azure AI Foundry, Amazon Bedrock, Amazon SageMaker - Process Automation, Image Analysis, Predictive and Prescriptive analysis Basic Compensation: $80,000-$130,000 This range is for the Dayton, OH area only. *The offered rate will be based on the selected candidate’s working location, knowledge, skills, abilities and/or experience, clearance level, contract affordability and in consideration of internal parity.
