Job Description
Manager, External Reporting and Technical Accounting
Nava
• Oversee and manage the timely preparation of monthly, quarterly, and annual financial and compliance reports, including federal and state reporting, bank requirements, and other business reporting • Develop structured and automated accounting and business processes for external and compliance reporting, including the necessary control and approval framework • Serve as the primary point of contact for external auditors on financial reporting and technical accounting matters, managing and meeting audit timelines and information requests for quarterly reviews and the annual audit • Independently research, analyze, and interpret complex U.S. GAAP accounting standards for existing operations and new business initiatives • Prepare well-documented, clear, and comprehensive technical accounting memos to justify the company’s positions on complex topics, such as revenue recognition on new contracts and service offerings, business combinations, stock-based compensation, and lease accounting • Lead the development, maintenance, and dissemination of corporate accounting policies and procedures across all finance functions to ensure consistent and compliant accounting treatment. • Lead the implementation of newly issued accounting standards, including assessing the impact, coordinating the necessary process and system changes, and managing internal communications • Work closely with the Financial Planning and Analysis (FP&A) team to ensure consistency between external financial results and internal management reporting, forecasts, and variance analysis • Prepare specialized reporting and presentations for the Executive Leadership Team, Program Management, and organizational leaders, explaining complex financial results and technical accounting impacts • Ensure the maintenance and compliance of all internal controls over financial reporting relevant to the external reporting and technical accounting processes • Streamline and improve existing reporting and planning processes so all leaders can easily access the financial information they need to perform their compliance functions, leveraging financial systems and business intelligence tools for efficiency and accuracy
Job Requirements
- Minimum of 5-7 years of progressive experience, with at least 3 years spent in Big 4 Public Accounting or large government contracting
- Deep and current technical knowledge of U.S. GAAP
- Demonstrated experience researching complex technical accounting issues and writing position memos
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the proven ability to articulate complex financial issues to both technical and non-technical audiences
- Strong leadership and communication skills, with the ability to influence and collaborate effectively across all levels of the organization
- Excellent analytical and problem-solving abilities, with a keen attention to detail and accuracy
- Strong computer skills and an ability to leverage technology in a contract administration context
- Excellent time management skills with keen attention to detail
