Job Description
Software Engineering Team Lead
Travefy
• Lead by doing, staying hands on while making sure the squad ships. • Write, review, and ship high quality code across the full stack for user facing features and platform improvements. • Keep individual contributor work a core part of the role, setting the standard through thoughtful implementation and code review. • Help the squad deliver on its goals by managing work intake, sequencing priorities, and removing blockers early. • Guide architecture and technical direction alongside another senior engineer. • Shape system design and architectural decisions, and facilitate sound, well socialized technical choices. • Advocate for engineering priorities like tech debt, tooling, and delivery efficiency across teams. • Ensure engineering gives constructive input on cost, complexity, and risk, while trusting Product and Design to lead on solution ideation. • Grow the team through coaching, feedback, and advocacy. • Mentor engineers on your squad and across the org through pairing, design guidance, and code review. • Support a small number of direct reports with regular feedback and room to grow. • Foster an inclusive, psychologically safe environment where engineers feel comfortable sharing ideas and challenging decisions. • Partner with Product and Design to align on scope, trade offs, and feasibility. • Communicate technical direction, progress, and trade offs clearly to technical and non technical stakeholders. • Lead the team through problems with consensus driven problem solving rather than solving around them.
Job Requirements
- 7+ years of experience in software engineering, including time in a technical leadership role on a cross functional team.
- Demonstrated ability to lead a team through complex technical problems by building consensus, not just issuing directives.
- Experience building customer facing SPAs and backend services using modern frameworks (experience with AWS, C#, React, or Ember.js is a plus, but not required).
- Proven ability to balance hands on engineering with coordination, delivery, and leadership responsibilities.
- Experience mentoring and leveling up other engineers through pairing, feedback, and coaching.
- Strong understanding of agile practices, lean delivery, and iterative product development.
- Excellent communication skills, comfortable tailoring technical ideas to diverse audiences.
- Able to thrive in fast moving, ambiguous environments with a high sense of ownership.
- Authorized to work in the U.S.
Benefits
- Health, Dental & Vision insurance for you and your family
- 401(k) with automatic company contribution
- Unlimited Vacation + Annual Travel Stipend
- Annual team retreats to exciting destinations
