Job Summary The Pharmacy Technician works closely with Pharmacists under the Medicare area to ensure the health and safety of Arkansas BlueCross BlueShield members while helping to ensure the availability and cost efficiency of in-demand medications and prescriptions. The incumbent serves as primary operational support for the Medicare Pharmacy area. Requirements EDUCATION High school diploma or equivalent required. LICENSING/CERTIFICATION Certified Pharmacy Technician (CPhT) required from the Pharmacy Technician Certification Board (PTCB). EXPERIENCE & KNOWLEDGE Minimum five (5) years' experience in a pharmacy environment required. Knowledge of medications and common indications. Understanding of insurance claims, pharmacy benefit manager (PBM), and adjudication procedures preferred. ESSENTIAL ABILITIES Ability to accomplish tasks with limited supervision. Eagerness to research and learn Medicare law changes year over year. Certifications Certified Pharmacy Technician (CPhT) - Pharmacy Technician Certification Board (PTCB) Security Requirements This position is identified as level three (3). Segregation of Duties Segregation of duties will be used to ensure that errors or irregularities are prevented or detected on a timely basis by employees in the normal course of business. This position must adhere to the segregation of duties guidelines in the Administrative Manual. Employment Type Regular ADA Requirements 2.1 General Office Worker, Semi-Active, Campus Travel – someone who normally works in an office setting or remotely, periodically has lifting and carrying requirements up to 40 lbs and routinely travels for work within walking distance of location of primary work assignment as essential functions of the job.
