Since 2018, Wisetack has been building transparent and intuitive consumer lending products that help service-based businesses thrive (think HVAC companies, veterinarians, or auto repair shops). Our leadership team comes from top fintech companies such as Lending Club, Affirm, and Varo Money. And we’re backed by leading VCs, including Insight Partners, Greylock, Quadrille, and Bain Capital Ventures (investors in Airbnb, LinkedIn, Instagram, Dropbox, and more). Having raised $84M, we’re a well-funded startup and have invested in people and technology while growing our partnerships — responsibly. We’re also proud to have received recognition from the fintech world. Awards we’ve won include: - Ranked #21 on 2024 Inc. 5000 based on revenue growth - Ranked #15 on 2024 Deloitte Fast 500 based on revenue growth - 2024 Best Embedded Finance Solution for Banking Tech Awards - 2023 Best Consumer Lending Program by Tearsheet - 2023 Best Point of Sale Product by Fintech Breakthrough But what you’ll find us gleaming about the most is the recognition from our own customers, particularly our sky-high NPS rating of 79. (For reference, the average score is 44 for financial services and 36 for SaaS companies.) As a result of our efforts in building this healthy company culture, we’ve been nominated to several Great Places to Work lists, such as Best Small Workplaces, Best Workplaces in the Bay Area, and Best Workplaces in Financial Services & Insurance. Like any startup, we’re in it for the long haul, and we’re looking for people willing to join our journey of building something special together. This process starts with our company values, which guide us in everything we do — and have played a critical role in our success. We valiantly abide by them, and would expect you to do the same: - Put customers first (that’s our M.O.) - Act fast (leverage our startup environment). - Lead the way (show and tell). - Take ownership (everyone is hands-on here). - Be a good human (no egos, build financial products that do right by people). Learn more about our values here. The Role As Compliance Program Director, you’ll own the day-to-day execution and continuous improvement of Wisetack’s compliance management system across the lending lifecycle. This is a hands-on leadership role for someone who can move quickly, make sound calls, and turn regulation into practical controls that work for a two-sided business: home services merchants using financing to win and complete bigger jobs, and consumers using clear, transparent pay-over-time options for repairs and upgrades. You’ll sit at the center of merchant onboarding, marketing oversight, application and disclosure flows, servicing, complaints, collections, partner oversight, and product change management. Wisetack publicly emphasizes fair and transparent financial products, customer-first thinking, acting fast, and ownership; this role is responsible for making those values real as the business scales. Success in this role looks like a program that stays credible under growth and scrutiny: risk assessments are current and tied to monitoring priorities, reporting helps leaders and partner banks act quickly, issues are remediated with clear ownership, and BSA/AML and OFAC controls remain well documented, monitored, and easy to defend. Responsibilities - Lead day-to-day execution and continuous improvement of Wisetack’s compliance management system across the lending lifecycle, from merchant onboarding and marketing oversight through application intake, disclosures, servicing, complaints, collections, and partner-bank expectations. - Serve as Wisetack’s designated BSA Officer, overseeing the BSA/AML/OFAC compliance framework, including governance, procedures, control documentation, and program reporting. - Maintain and enhance the enterprise compliance risk assessment, regulatory applicability mapping, and risk-based monitoring and testing program so that risk ratings clearly drive control validation, remediation, and reporting priorities. - Build practical management reporting for leadership, governance committees, board-level audiences, and partner banks, including KRIs, testing results, complaint trends, remediation status, and material compliance developments. - Oversee compliance issue management, including root cause analysis, corrective actions, validation, closure, and audit or partner-bank remediation tracking. - Partner with Product, Engineering, Operations, Servicing, Fraud, Legal, Capital Markets, and Risk to support change management, control design, and launch readiness for new products, features, workflow changes, and program updates. - Support merchant and third-party oversight by helping define control requirements, escalation triggers, monitoring expectations, evidence standards, and remediation pathways. - Maintain and improve risk assessments, procedures, and testing routines related to CIP/KYC, sanctions screening, suspicious activity escalation, quality assurance review, and record retention. - Monitor BSA/AML and OFAC KRIs, operational queues, aging, exception trends, investigation timeliness, complaint trends, and third-party performance; escalate material issues and emerging risks to senior management quickly. - Support filing governance, case documentation, and cross-functional escalation processes involving Fraud, Operations, Servicing, and partner-bank stakeholders. - Coordinate compliance and BSA/AML training administration, evidence retention, and remediation work arising from audits, internal testing, partner-bank review, or control breakdowns. - Help ensure controls remain appropriate for Wisetack’s embedded lending model, merchant channel, third-party environment, and role in processing and servicing bank-originated consumer loans. Requirements - 10+ years of experience in compliance, risk, audit, legal, or program management within consumer finance, fintech, marketplace lending, embedded finance, or a bank-partner environment. - Strong working knowledge of consumer lending, UDAAP, and fair lending concepts, with practical experience translating requirements into controls, procedures, testing, and launch guidance. - Meaningful experience with BSA/AML/OFAC governance, including CIP/KYC, suspicious activity escalation, sanctions oversight, training, and control documentation. - Track record building or improving compliance monitoring, testing, issue management, complaints governance, board or committee reporting, or regulatory change management. - Ability to work cross-functionally, influence senior stakeholders, and bring structure to complex operational environments. - Excellent writing, documentation, and communication skills, with strong judgment and attention to detail. - A high-ownership mindset and a bias toward action. You know how to raise standards, make decisions, and move work forward without creating unnecessary drag. Bonus points - Experience supporting programs offered through regulated bank partners. - Experience in point-of-sale lending, home improvement financing, merchant financing, installment lending, or servicing operations. - Experience managing audit remediation, external reviews, or partner-bank oversight requests. - Comfort using data, dashboards, and KRIs to drive compliance decision-making and resource allocation. - Experience deploying AI tools to improve efficiency and scale. Conclusion The range of base salary for the position is between $141,700.00 - $198,400.00 plus equity, and benefits. Please note that the base salary range is a guideline, and individual total compensation will vary based on factors such as qualifications, skill level and competencies.
